“Like many others I got phone on contract with Three,...”

★★★☆☆

written by on 28/05/2010

Like many others I got phone on contract with Three, had the phone several months now and its brilliant.

I did have an initial problem where the blue-tooth refused to turn on however after an hour of fiddling (removing battery, sim, memory card, hard-resetting, sp updates) I managed to get it to turn on.

The material on the back of the screen when it slides up does feel rather cheap and the slider is loose from new however its not that much of a problem.

Overall its a great phone, I would personally recommend it to all.

Phone purchased part of 3 contract. Phone is OK but not best Nokia around. 3 are not best network I have used and when contract ends - I shall not be renewing it! Poor signal and wont connect sometimes. Christmas, I found I had overlapping and late messages which was very irritating... this was probably due to other factors than my phone... namely 3!

I note that there are some positive comments - but I equate this to the HONEYMOON period - had my daughter been asked to make a comment about the Nokia 6288 in the first few weeks - she would have rated it highly - ask her now and it's a big fat ZERO!!
We (her parents who paid for it) rate Nokia a zero because I personally believe that Nokia knew the 6288 was FAULTY (screen problems weren't the only problem - users had NUMEROUS other complaints about this model) and Nokia still sold it.If I don't get some satisfaction from Nokia, I will take my complaint to the Consumers agencies here in NZ and the media. We have a great consumer watchdog programme here in NZ called "Fair Go" and that's all we're asking for - to be treated FAIRLY...and with HONESTY...watch this space...

I have to say, working in the mobile repair industry phones do not crack from the inside out. Do you spend all day every day with your daughter? As there are milllions and millions of these phones sold globally, I'm not surprised if there are people making these fictioncious claims. While I agree that your daughter hasn't got the product she wants, now. She did get the product she wanted when it was purchased. How can you blame a company for making a great product that your daughter has since broken. The reason you will be hearing complaints from other people is because those bargain hunters who have never had a colour screen handset before are now realising they didn't look after teir product of choice.

written by buzzincece on 03/03/2008

DO NOT BUY THE Nokia 6288. This phone came free as part of my contract with 3. The contract is ace. The phone is absolute rubbish. I have never had a phone so bad. People I have spoken to who got the phone at the same time have exactly the same problems I do.
My partner jokes when he sees all the latest phones, he always says gosh they do this and that but do they actually make and receive calls. I'm like yeah you know nothing.
So with the latest phone at the time Nokia 6288 I was ready for his insults...but oh no wait the phone which I have just charged has gone off again.. turn it back on and yes it says full battery. I make a call the phone cuts off. Ive been on the phone for all of 2 minutes and the battery needs charging. This is the worst phone. I am stuck with this phone until my contract is up in September... I hope it gets here quick. When September comes the phone is gone. At the moment I may as well not have a phone it works the little. My overall rating was 2 because it has good features they just dont work. But at least it came free with my contract.

i have the same phone and i originally got it with 3 (pre paid) and didnt like being with three and the phone was playing up so i sold it and bought the exact same phone with optus(pre paid) and it works perfectly now and ive had the new one 4 months the only complaint i have is that the cameras gone a little fuzzy after 3 months but apart from that no complaints.... so maybe for some unknown reason its certain providers who get the dodgy 6288's

This is not a mobile I would choose , the only reason I have one is that it comes as part of the 3 contract. As soon as my contract finishes good bye 6288

“This phone is on a contract with 3. It has been...”

written by sparkoa on 05/02/2008

This phone is on a contract with 3. It has been working well since we got it for our son in July 2007 - he finds it easy to use, with plenty of features etc.
He brought the phone home yesterday saying that during the day, the screen had cracked inside. Indeed, it had, a large crack runs straight down the middle from the top to the bottom of the screen. To the left of the crack is completely black, to the right you can just about read the screen.
Called 3, they said that a local firm would take it in for repair. My wife went there today, was told that as accidental damage was not covered by the warranty, there would be a charge of around £50 to fix it. As far as I am aware there had been no accidental (or otherwise) damage, she decided not to leave it with them.
A further call to 3 this evening - I was advised that the options were:
1) Pay around £50 for a repair - they could not say whether the repaired phone would be covered should the fault re-occur (which seems to happen more often than not)
2) Pay £50 for a reconditioned phone
3) Cancel the contract - which has 12 months left, and would cost me £180+.
So, we are stuck with a phone for the next 12 months or so which can only make/receive calls and send text messages. All other functions are virtually unusable with the damaged screen.
I looked on the web this evening, and as far as I am concerned there's a large number of people in a lot of different countries who have had the same experience with this phone. In my opinion Nokia do not accept that there is a problem, and won't do repairs to cracked screens under warranty.
I think that no-one wants to accept responsibility - Nokia, who are selling a phone which has a major fault, and 3, who will only help us if we pay out yet more money.
My advice - steer clear of the Nokia 6288!

“The phone keeps breaking. Nokia as a company treated...”

written by GODFREE on 15/12/2007

The phone keeps breaking. Nokia as a company treated me like a criminal and 3 were no better. Long standing customer off like a shot. I got pestered by 3 into upgrading from the previous model. The previous model broke twice, I was disappointed when 3 sent a similar phone: guess what after 3 months it broke with the same fault as the previous one. Nokia alleged that the phone had been dropped or more ridiculously that it had been crushed, on the strength of that, 3 said pay £30 for repair or £50 for an upgrade as they had upgraded me only a few months earlier. So my recommendation is to not touch the phone, avoid Nokia; and for 3 to do some customer services training, as after being with them for years I am going to cancel my payments and contract.
