Initially the service was good, we were seated quickly and efficiently. However, no cutlery was supplied for my daughters main course. There was no salad dressing along with my rib-eye steak but the waiter did bring some when I asked for it. We had to wait a long time between main course and dessert and when it arrived, again there was no cutlery for my daughter. We ordered a large cappuccino and a tea - a small cappuccino and a coffee arrived! My husband ordered a scone with butter and jam but no knife was provided. It just seemed that there was a severe lack of attention to detail which was disappointing and completely avoidable.
Finally, we were asked if we would like ice-cream or custard with the cheese-cake we had ordered, we chose ice-cream but we were horrified when the bill arrived and we had been charged £2.00 for half a scoop of ice-cream!!! The cheesecake itself was £2.95! When paying the bill I pointed out that £2.00 for a small scoop of ice-cream was, in my opinion, completely over the top - the young girl processing the payment just said "oh right" and that was it. Don't think I'll be rushing back, sadly ... as it could be so much better with just a little more attention to detail and more attention to customer service.

We went last night(Tuesday)and the food was good, but when we arrived we felt that we were interrupting the very young manageress,s conversation with the other waitresses. After we sat down the older lady that looked after us was lovely, she got our drinks and told us the specials, she came to get our order at just the right time and throughout the meal always seemed to be there when we needed something. No complaints about the food, I had steak pie and my friend had the fish and chips and we agreed both were really nice. I would recommend this place, it was just a pity we felt like we were interrupting the manageress from doing something else when we were there

We visit The Rail Bridge Bistro fairly regulary and the food is generally quite good (but a bit overpriced)but we are prepared to pay a bit extra for the fantastic views an pleasant atmoshpere.
I recently had a poor meal (rissotto like rice pudding) and was very disappointed with the staff response (although they acknowledged that the food was not up to standard). Stick with the fish and chips, steak pie etc if you don't want to be disappointed.
