If the design was kept EXACTLY the same with all the same software it would be useful to have some means of transferring the recordings into my computer. So something like a USB port to transfer stuff out would help.
I did take mine apart and looked at the hard drive which is IDENTICAL to that in my PC, with identical connections.
I put the hard drive in my PC but the computer didn't recognise the operating system.
So, if there was a similar operating system I could fill up the hard drive and change it over with a spare empty one.
There are so many excellent documentaries on UKTV History it would be good to keep them.
If you still doubt how easy this is to use - I'm 59!

Good quality pictures and playback. Seems to deal well with poor signal conditions, good for those with perhaps a less than ideal antenna/aerial system. Unfussed and slightly basic but does the job well.

on the whole I like it!!!! although no way of storing things forever, can't take recordings to a friends house to view there.

A friends recommendation of the Goodmans GHD8015F2 proved to be spot on.
