Overall in spite of some negative comments I rate this Bosch Dishwasher machine excellent compared to the machine it replaced (a KitchenAid-manufactured by Hobart, not Whirlpool, in the USA). This machine has been extremely reliable with no need for repairs during my ownership to date. The main reason I purchased this machine seven years ago was for it's fantastic quietness, very important in small dwellings. Today, however, there may be better choices than the Bosch, I don't know, since I'm currently not in the market.

Our Bosch Dishwasher is going strong too. Just some rust around the edges of the inner seal that I can't be bothered to scrub off.

This is an addendum to my original posting. The above captioned diswasher is a Bosch Model Number SMU2042UC/14. Everthing I originally stated about this dishwasher still applies today. After reading the other reviews about Bosch dishwashers it appears that the main problems are with the electronically controlled machines as opposed to the electro-mechanically controlled machines. My machine is an older electro-mechanic machine one step below the "top of the line" available at the time purchased. This difference is worth noting and understanding.
