“Worst company”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Jimmd on 30/09/2023

The service was abysmal; my car broke down in the middle of nowhere at 6pm with my two toddlers, and when I called them, they showed no concern. They provided inconsistent timing estimates, and one employee claimed there was a miscommunication, leading to a staggering 4-hour wait, which ultimately turned into a grueling 6-hour ordeal. It felt like dealing with a group of incompetent individuals who lacked empathy for my stranded situation with hungry kids. If I had known the expected wait time earlier, I could have arranged alternative transportation, but they continuously kept me waiting.

“Great price and simple to use website”

★★★★★

written by SueBo0923 on 22/09/2023

This is the second year I have taken out breakdown cover with Rescue My Car. The premium is competitive and the website is so simple to use. I just hope I never need to make use of my cover and hope that, if I do, the service is as good.

Despite not having to call on the service to attend my car , I thankfully have not had a breakdown but am happy in the knowledge that I have the back up facility. Also happy with the contact service for renewal.

Only used your service once . It did not go well, but was soon sorted out after the event. This is why I am still a member.

“Disappointing”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Bill2439 on 03/09/2023

You may think it is strange that I gave them 1 star and yet would recommend to a friend. Quite simply I cannot believe they will ever make such a silly mistake in the future and prepared to give them the benefit of the doubt. The mistake most likely down to the contractor who turned up to change a flat tyre and replaced it with the spare which was also obviously flat. This also required special nuts which were in the boot but not used. This was done for my partner who is 67 years old and disabled and has no clue about such things. I have just renewed as a present for her birthday and rest assured this incident will not be forgotten, maybe a mistake to renew but time will tell.

“My caris safe.”

In the past I have our Rescue My Car (quite a few years ago) and on both times I was pleased with the service. I have never had a problem with their service. I have recommended to friends and family many times for overall value and service which is, in my experience, without fault.

“Terrible awful company ”

written by LillieMaloney135 on 24/08/2023

I broke Down three hours from home on the motorway in the dark I called them they said somebody would be with me as soon as possible to keep calling them no one arrived until three hours later. Kept making excuses when the tow truck did arrive he could only take me an hour and a half down the road he dropped me at the motorway services in the middle of the night and I was told another tow truck could be with me in an hour or two‘s time the tow truck didn’t arrive until after another four hours and then I was told that I would only be taken another short way down the motorway dropped at another services where would have to wait for another tow truck bear in mind I was only three hours away from home in the first place it’s now been eight hours and I’m still nowhere near home I’m a 55-year-old vulnerable woman And I’ve been left at these places on my own for hours in the middle of the night they didn’t even bother to call me I had to call them to keep finding out and chasing up where my tow truck was and all they could give me was excuses after excuses this company really doesn’t care, The staff were in different and uncaring and somewhat to the point of being flippant and rude

This is the third year I have been with this company and cannot fault the service I have received from them and the breakdown companies they have used. Price wise it knocks spots off other companies. I have recommended these to quite a few people and they are now using them as well.

Don't use! Patronising and childish owner . They don't provide the service expected! Please read negative reviews of people who've needed them and they've come up short.

“i have had to call out once for recovery and once at home”

★★★★★

written by LesterM on 08/08/2023

I had to call for a breakdown that needed to be recovered 160 miles home, two days before Christmas, and Rescue my car arranged promptly , within the hour our car being loaded and we were able to continue our journey once we arranged a hire car . A few months later i had an issue with my car at home, Rescue my car again arranged for a mechanic to do a temporary repair enabling me to get to a garage for the part to be replaced. The annual fee is very reasonable, and unless you do breakdown is significantly less than the major competitors, even when paying my excess it was cheaper. I wouldn't hesitate not to join them next year, i have been with them two years, and renewed for a third year, they have been great

“Dreadful!!”

★☆☆☆☆

written by stagecraft on 05/08/2023

Absolutely dreadful service. Left me stranded on a busy motorway for over an hour, although quick to take £40 excess over the phone in dangerous situation then relayed me to nearest services. Waited there for another 5 hours with texts telling me of delays then no contact whatsoever. I called them again after nobody turned up to be cut off after waiting ages. Eventually got relayed to garage (only 110 miles away) 9 hours after initial breakdown. So much for being a single female pensioner with a heart condition. RMC not interested in my complaint at all - they responded with several inaccuracies which I had to correct, only for them to pass on meaningless apologies. Needless to say their very untimely reminder to renew my subscription will not be taken up!! Will never use them again.

“Car Breakdown Services”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Allie404 on 02/08/2023

If you are looking for a breakdown service, then I suggest that you look elsewhere rather than use ‘Rescuemycar.com’ I had used my car Friday for 15 minutes approximately and parked it up for the night on my hard standing in the garden. Saturday morning I unlocked my gates, put my shopping bags in the passenger seat and would you believe it my car just would not start. I got lots of messages on the driver help screen, all so jumbled up and it seemed that the car was going through all the fault messages that it could find. I dipped the clutch and turned the starter key, all the light dipped on the dashboard, the messages disappeared temporarily and started displaying again when I released the key. So my first action was to call my breakdown service, and they told me, “When our driver is on his way, we will call you to let you know.” I waited 4 hours plus, but nothing happened, also of course being Saturday few garages work and the vast majority close half day too. This is a copy of the letter responding to my complaint about the service that I received (NOT) Thank you for getting in touch on the 10th July 2023. We take customer satisfaction seriously and we are glad to hear from you. I am sorry to hear that your experience with our company has not met your expectations. I have investigated your complaint and can now confirm my findings. My understanding of your complaint is that you are dissatisfied that is took Rescuemycar.com four hours to get your vehicle recovered and due to the length of time it took the garage was closed and we did not keep you updated throughout the process. We received a call from yourself at 9:50am with a non-starting vehicle on a street next to your home address. We contacted the local recovery agents and the earliest estimated time of arrival we received was 13:07. We received a call from yourself at 13:20 for an update and the driver was tracking 30 minutes away. The recovery agent arrived on scene at 13:34 As a result of my investigation, I uphold the part of your complaint relating to poor communication we should have kept you better updated of the situation and apologies on behalf of Rescuemycar.com for any inconvenience this has caused you. However, I am unable to uphold your complaint regarding complaint in regards to timescales for the following reasons all times provided to our customers are estimated times only. We always aim to attend as soon as possible however this is based on vehicle availability and traffic. Yours sincerely The Complaints Team My comments to this letter. The garage was closed – All garages where closed. My car was parked on my garden not on a road close by. Good job because it poured with rain for hours that day. (I got soaking wet helping the driver who asked my to push him off in case the starter motor was stuck. - Not bad aye given that I am seventy eight. The driver who turned up told me “Can only take the car to one garage, if they are closed I will have to leave it there.” And leave it there he did putting my keys through the door of the garage, who incidently could not sort out the problem and it had to be left there. I visited the garage on Monday morning and I then had to pay £50 to get it move to another garage that could deal with the problems. It was found to be the ECU (Engine Computer Unit) that was at fault and it took eleven days before I got my car back, and it cost me a further £367-00 Just one other thing that I feel that I should mention, I was told on the telephone that “We (rescuemy car.com) never give a time when we will attend.” I questioned that and I found that most other breakdown companies give you an approximate time of arrival.

When you take out the policy, they will normally ask the age & mileage of your Car anyway. So, they are already aware. However, ALWAYS read the 'Key Facts' & Small print. Better safe than sorry.
