Fake Bake Xtreme Self Tanning Gel

I'd heard great things about this from friends and on impulse I thought I'd get some prior to my holiday (nothing worse than a white bum on the beach!).

It went on fairly easy, but after an hour of so of waiting for a blast of colour nothing! I was hoping it would be washed off before bed as it was so sticky, but no!

After a night in the spare room I did have some colour (not a bad colour), but when I jumped in the shower most of it went off down the sink!

I tried again on night 2 and things worked a little better, the colour was reasonable and I'd figured how to set up the room for minimal clean up in the morning - so not a disaster, but better than it could have been.

Well what can I say... This product cost me 26 quid in Debenhams and was a TOTAL waste! I've used fake bake Flawless and that was quite good but it would take a while to get to the colour I liked, so I thought I'd get the gel as it was suppost to be darker... Yeah its not, its even lighter than what I used before! I was also patchy even though I exfoliated before, I decided to use the whole bottle as I thought it might get better the more I used it and I was wrong, I looked like a tiger! I was white, slightly brown and even green in some places! I also ask my sister (who has been fake tanning for years) to try it to see if it was just my skin or not and she had the same results, she hated it just as much as me. Its awful to apply, gives rubbish results and costs WAY too much! NEVER AGAIN!!!

I have faketanned for years and am naturally very pale. I purchased this gel after using the mousse and finding that the colour wasn't dark enough for summer colour.

This gel is awful - I thought it was me and that I had exfoliated using an oil based scrub so I reapplied for a second time, but to no avail, it was awful.

I had to wash it off twice and use the remnants of my Clarins tan instead - don't buy this tan, it's the worst I've ever used and that is saying something.....

After reading lots of negative reviews of this product, I was quite sceptical and thought I might be disappointed with what I had bought.. but no.. fake bake xtreme is AMAZING! I bought the new improved formula for £27.50 and it is well worth the money. Unlike all of the other fake tans including St.Tropez and Xen-Tan, the Xtreme doesn't give you a fake yellowy looking tan.. instead it gives you a gorgeous, dark, natural browny bronze colour. As for the smell, it's pretty nice.. smells like chocolate oranges.. rather than biscuits!!

First of all, i exfoliated once using a gentle exfoliating shower cream, didn't apply any lotions or deodorant and then used a fake-tanning mitt bought from Boots instead of the gloves they give you to put the tan on.

I don't know what people mean when they say the gel dries too quickly.. unless you have the pace of a snail, you can't go wrong with this.. i just used 1 pump for each section of skin ie. the front part of the arm, and then to blend in, just lightly patted the areas where blending was required. You don't need to keep rubbing the area with the tan.. It will absorb straight away, so just think of it like painting yourself.. you don't need to keep going over and over the area! Be GENTLE, and you will get GOOD results.

I left the first application on for 6 hours during the day by wearing baggy clothing and making sure not to get any water on the tan. I then had a shower and the colour guide comes off still leaving a gorgeous, dark tan. I then applied the second application of tan and wore this over-night.

Don't worry if your tan looks streaky and like youve been in a mud-bath.. after you have washed off the excess in the morning.. it will be COMPLETELY streak free and gorgeous.

I am very picky with fake tans, but I swear by this one!

I was very disappointed with this product, I have used various self-tanners, including Xen-tan, Famous Daves and Fake Bake original tanner, all of which I have been impressed with. I have quite dark hair and thought that it would be great to get an even darker version of fake bake, so purchased the Xtreme tanning gel. The gel itself if very dark brown, the first thing I noticed was the smell, its very strong and potent, the stuff dries very quickly so its impossible to blend it in, this doesnt matter tho as when i washed it off the next day I had hardly no colour anyways, let alone any streaking. I re-applied the product again that evening, still with no effect and so again after that as I was having a night out, nope still no effect. I would not recommend this to anyone, totaly waste of money and I have since after emailing fakebake direct, returned to the supplier and am waiting for a replacement of the original Fakebake.

I was pleasantly surprised with the results of this tan. After reading all the bad reviews I thought I would still give it a go as I got on well with all the other fake bake products. The main issues that I read about were the difficulty of applying, although I had no problem this, probably due to the fact that I use a tanning mitt instead of the gloves provided as I find that this give a more even coverage. Also I found the smell of this particular tan over the other fake bake products is a lot nicer, not as strong and didn't get the biscuity after smell. The colour, if wanted natural, has to be applied sparingly over a few nights to get the desired colour and then once a week onwards to keep the tan. The only down point is the price, although as a tanning addict I would happily pay this.. or purchase of Amazon or Ebay at a slightly cheaper price. I would definitely recommend this to people, out of all the tans I have used I think this is probably my favourite :)

As a big fan of Fake Bake original lotion i was very excited to try out what I had hoped would just be a darker more 'extreme' version of it.....

I was however massively disappointed...

I had read about its 'quick drying' issue,however i consider myself a bit of a pro at tanning now and did not see this being an issue for me.An issue isnt even the word...it was ridiculous!I put the first bit onto the glove as usual,began very swiftly rubbing it over my lower leg and immediately realised that it wasnt going to blend any further over the area after precisely 2 seconds of skin exposure was up.. I tried again and again to gain the knack of it but instead ended up with 'areas' of tan where each section had dried.Rubbish!

Dont even get me started on my efforts to try and 'buff' it up with the Fake Bake mitt (which usually works wonderfully with the lotion)instead of the patches fading,it came off the skin in rolls and bits of colour,unevenly!!

Please please please do not waste your money on this product!!! Take my advice and use the Fake Bake Original Lotion which is the best tanning product I have ever used.

Ive been fake tanning for years and ive tried allsorts, I thought this tan wouLd be great, it totally isnt! I heard that it dried fast but I am fast at applying anyway, but this is ridiculous theres no way you can do it neat enough in time before it dries and when you attempt to blend it in it rubs off in rolls and goes patchy, I got as far as my arms and gave up. The only good thing is the colour but i will not use this again!

i think this is an absaloute letdown for fakebake. being a a fakebake worshipper and qualified beauty therapist trained to use fakebake in the salon, i was extremely dissapointed.i decided to get some to try on myself before using on clients and its a good job i did because i found it dried wayyyy to quickly, made me look mucky and it was extremely hard to blend. It started to leave black bits of dried gel all over my body. i had prepped my skin properly and done everything i learnt from training..but the result was awful. Never again will i use this product

I am an avid fake bake user so i didn't think twice about buying the xtreme version to try out.

As they say it does dry extremley quickly and the smell is very strong when you're applying it, it smells like an anticeptic alcohol wipe! I apply fake bake twice a week so for me personally the quick drying part wasn't an issue and in fact i prefer it as it means i don't have to sleep in another sheet when i go to bed to protect my bed sheets.

It is however really stickly, so don't rest any body parts together when you're done!

After an overnight sleep in it i washed it off, i found the excess doesn't come off in the shower as easily as the fake bake lotion does but after rubbing with my hand it was fine.

The colour is the best bit about this product, probably the darkest fake tan i've ever used, and not at all orange it looks like you have just spent 2 weeks in the carribean!

I am extremely impressed with this product and it is now my new fake tan of choice, even my friends have been turned after seeing me use it.
