“Simple, cheap and brilliant!”

★★★★★

I'm a sole trader small business with <£150k turnover. I bank 99% via online DD in, BACS out. Cash deposits and the odd cheque goes through local branch or via the post office. I've banked with Santander for over 10 years now and have found it to be low cost and really good. The website is fantastic and simple to use. If you are a small service based sole trader I highly recommend!

“Great for totally FREE BANKING”

★★★★★

Had the account for 3 years, We mover from Yorkshire bank due to their charges for everyday banking. I run my business properly so never go overdrawn. I send 30-40 cheques out every month, pay in 20 or so and pay bacs for wages and supplier payments. GUESS WHAT THEY HAVE NEVER HAD A PENNY OFF ME . If you run your business properly and do not want to take a lend of the banks money then without hesitation this has been the best thing we ever did. In Fact we save over £1000 per year using them so have been very happy customers of Santander.

Overall, extremely happy with the system. Cannot pay cash over the counter in Evesham, EVEN when the cashpoint is not working. I do not liking coming away with lots of cash which I need to leave at the bank.

“After Halifax constantly charged me for paying money...”

★★★★★

written by stga on 12/05/2010

After Halifax constantly charged me for paying money in and out of my account I thought it was time for a change. I saw the Abbey adverts for free business banking and thought it would be a good investment, as in this day and current climate every penny counts. I went into one of the newly refurbished branches and was warmly welcomed by the staff. We handed over ID's and cheques to open the account with the reassurance it would take one week to get my account number. I was called in three days after this to say that it was opened. I have no complaints, they always greet you warmly and take care of my account in the head office in Glasgow.

“The pro with Abbey business banking is it is...”

★★★★★

The pro with Abbey business banking is it is completely FREE. As far as i am aware there is no other high street bank offering this service. The negative is that I have never been able to get to deal with a person face to face as the branch appears not to have anything to with business banking. You make your deposits in to the cash machine and you move money around by phone or internet. Once i got the hang of it, i have found it extremely useful. I transfer wages each month in to abbey current accounts and the funds are instantly available in the account. Other banks offer better customer service, but if you want to save yourself money...go with Abbey!

“I've had my Ltd company business bank account with...”

★★★★★

written by Emma Ltd on 23/04/2007

I've had my Ltd company business bank account with Abbey for 8 years (Yes - they've been offering free banking forever for 9 years, despite some reports of this being a failed trial)!

I have never had any problems that have cost my business money, but I did make the mistake of calling customer service with a query a few months back. They used to be based in Newport; nice bunch. Now they are in Glasgow, and they seem like a gang of untrained temps!

I love the fact I get free banking forever, and I find that my accounts run perfectly. It is a direct account so access is internet/phone/post. I pay in my small volumes of cash (notes only allowed) & cheques through the cash machine, and I get a receipt.
This is the way I like to run my business, and despite the fact that I don't have a branch service, when I have needed to chat with someone face to face I've asked customer service to make me an appointment with a Relationship Manager (phrase I learned from one of the sales ladies).

These guys work from home around the country, and they are not only there to generate new business, but also keep us existing customers sweet. These guys will also give you their direct numbers for any future concerns. Great!

Everything I need for both my small local Courier business' and my international haulage firm.

This account isn't just for small businesses. If your turnover is 1 million+ but your transactions are BACS or similar, this account is still free - FOREVER.

I can't recommend it enough.

Don't expect miracles once your account is open - the service is no better or worse than any other bank, but if you can manage your money yourself, or delegate, as we should as business men/women, then this account will suit most businesses (not large cash volumes (i.e >£3k a month physical cash).
