Very cheap insurance offered. Very expensive premium rate number offers of call backs thast never happen and impossible to get a claim processed. Having trouble locating them try: Don't use the high rate mnumber. After you've got nowhere complain to the Insurance Ombudsuman/trading standards and Companies house

“Not a scam!”

I've used Talkcover for several years now and have both myself and my girlfriend on the same policy. We've both had to make claims for our iPhones at different times and they've all been dealt with pretty efficiently. The only downside being that the phones I have received from them were clearly not new but refurbished. However, I'd rather have a refurbished phone in very good condition than have to deal with a broken phone or have to fork out for a new phone from a shop!!! Not sure if this is still the case but it was the cheapest iPhone insurance I could find.

A total ripoff. Have been insured with them for two years, finally had to make a claim on their hugely expensive premium rate line. Everything about their communication is shoddy. Barely literate emails, (likely false) claims of oddly failed attempts to call me and an overall drawn out process. This has been happening for two weeks now. I do not expect to ever see this claim honoured at this stage, to be honest. If it is, I'll have spent about 2 hours and £40+ on phonecalls (not to mention their £50 loss surplus).

Utterly useless. Don't let the cheap price lead you in as making a claim is time consuming, expensive and an incredibly frustrating process.


Summary (Mobile Phone Insurance from Talkcover provided by Supercover)
Accidental damage claim took over a month to complete. Largely due to repeated failures in communication from Supercover, incompetent claims department who repeatedly made false guarantees (over the phone, in writing and all over their website) regarding how long claims take to process.
Phoning the claims line results in waiting (on a 0871 premium line) for between 15 and 45 minutes, and very rarely getting an answer when you finally get through. More disappointingly, email communications were often ignored, or replies were unreasonably late and inappropriate to the issues that had been raised. Sometimes emails were entirely contradictory, or written in language barely resembling English (with an average 4 spelling and grammar mistakes per sentence).


I am currently making a formal complaint following advice from the Financial Ombudsman Service, and would encourage all others to stay away from this insurer!

Absolute waste of money, Would rather just buy a new phone. Daughters phone broke 3 months ago still trying to claim, all they ever say is ring our claims line, which funnily is on a 0871 premium number and they like to keep you on hold for as long as possible. First time the only reason i needed to ring was to get the address to send my claim to as it was not on there website(FUNNY THAT), and as previously stated every thing is one thing at a time. Will never deal with again.

Made a claim 3 months ago with my 2 month old H T C D esire. Kept asking me to send things in including a birth certificate! but instead of asking it all in one go waited until I had sent one thing in before asking for the next. Then they decided they wanted an email version. Total time on phone to a premium number =3 hours 14 minutes costing MORE money
Now becuase the phone is 5 months old (due to a 3 month delay by them) I get 'reconditioned' phone worth the same value after paying a 25 pound excess
Do not waste your money!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I thought I was safe by reading the terms and conditions but NOT clear at all. I will be making a complaint

HORRIBLE customer service. Expensive call centre, takes ages to get through, after every chase-up by email they leave a voicemail asking me to call an 0871 number. Has been almost two months and I still have no replacement phone. AVOID!!

You have been warned......
The Insurance Ombudsman Service are a great help, they can give you a Head Office directline telephone number, no waiting and they dont cut you off.

Supercover Insurance, also known as TalkCover (dodgy!) is a terrible, terrible company with unbelievably appalling customer service. They hang the phone up after waiting for long periods, everyone you speak to sounds like they each work for different companies. After my iPhone 3GS was stolen, I followed protocol to a t and have been dealing with them for over a month. I was first told I should wait and a new iPhone would be shipped whenever they were back in stock. The next person I spoke to 3 days later told me that I should just buy a new phone (£550!) and claim it back for reimbursement. She told me there would be a letter in the mail to me claiming how to get reimbursed. The next person told me there was no letter, just to send it in. I had to mail my receipt (which they "couldn't find") and then faxed a copy of my receipt 3 times (all of which they "didn't receive," while essentially accusing me of faxing to the wrong number even after I confirmed where I faxed it to), and finally I had to scan and email a copy. I had to call pretty much every day for a month. For two weeks I was simply waiting for this person (called the "director", the "accountant", and the "manager" by various staff) to sign and approve it. If I would have never called to check on the status of my claim, I am 100% sure I would have never heard from them again. Although I have finally received my check, I feel like they committed a worse crime than the man that robbed me on the street. These people and this company are completely despicable and I avoid anyone who reads this to avoid at all costs.

Pathetic.. pathetic, cheap and absolute shameless. They took three weeks to reject a lost phone claim on the grounds that the phone was not blacklisted. But lost phones cannot be blacklisted and they r taking a further two weeks considering my appeal. Absolute shoddy service. Customer service agents are okay and some reply to your emails but they can't get things done.


They also cost extra £50 for lost phones surcharge. Absolutely not worth it. Don't even think about falling for their cheap premiums.

ive been waiting 2 months they said not blacklisted. even though vodafone are telling me it is. i wish i could get my hands on them instead of being behind a phone. i would strangle them. AVOID AVOID AVOID

These people are the same company as Supercover Insurance. DO NOT do business with them! They will try every trick to avoid paying a claim. My experience has been: you have to pay to call them, you will be kept hanging on the phone, they do not reply to letters or emails. You will be wasting your money with these people, better to pay a bit extra and get insurance from a company with a good reputation for dealing with claims.

Having followed their procedure correctly, I find I am too in a position where I am not having a satisfactory response to my claim. It appears to me that this company will look for any loophole possible to avoid setting a claim. If anyone were to take my advice, take insurance offered by the airtime providers. At least you will be guaranteed a fair service. It annoys me greatly to think of the amount of money I have shelled out (and continue to shell out) for a phone that I do not have - and there seems to be no recourse. I am going to follow their complaints procedure, as far as the ombudsman if I have to.

I have sent them over 10 emails now and have got no where.
The claims number is really expensive to ring.
They have messed me about so much.

Talkcover.com the worst company i have ever dealt with. i have just paid £53 to insure my mobile phone with them i have e-mailed them 12 time with no reply i have phoned them only to get a reply and then they immediatly put the phone down. i have just cancelled my policy with them lets see how long it takes to get my money back.

Talkcover? Forget it. I made a perfectly reasonable claim for a lost phone and they wouldn't pay out. No response to appeals - someone's always going to 'ring you back' after 'looking into the case, but no-one ever does; complaints department - no response either. What a bunch of unprofessional cowboys. Oh, and in addition, despite saying they've sent policies and letters out, I've never had a thing through the post from them. You'd get better service from a bunch of chimpanzees.

I don;t think they have a "Replacement as New" policy. Meaning they will try to fix your damaged phone or replace it with a second hand model rather than just give you a new one as most other insurers do at the same price.
They do not pay for couriers as most other insurers do at the same price. Instead they rely on the Royal Mail and YOU have to pay for postage.
Customer services are not very professional (They actually used 'txt' speak in letters to me)!
Customer services did not reply to all incoming emails from customers.
If an accidental damage claim is made they will ask you to send your phone to the "Fone Clinic" with a promise of repair or replacement within 48hrs. In my case it took 2 weeks.
