Just returned from ' Taste of the Derp South' holiday with Saga. Couldn't fault a thing. First class tour guide and coach driver, both went out of there way to make sure we saw and experienced as much of the local culture as possible. Professional drivers who picked us up from home and returned us from airport Will defiantly be booking with them again. Excelling holiday.

Although this was not our first Saga tour or cruise, this was a first for us to Thailand. From the start, it was all so well organized - from the pick up at the front door (a few minutes early!) to being met at Bangkok airport, it was all as smooth as silk. The itinerary was quite hectic, so we could possibly have had a bit more time to ourselves - but that was not a big deal. The hotels were excellent, very comfortable very clean with superb food, except one (Havana Beach Resort)that I hope Saga will change as it was nowhere near the quality of the others. The two tour managers, were without doubt the very best tour managers one could imagine! They worked so very hard to make everything run smoothly, they really were treasures. All in all, this was a really great tour - well done Saga!

I have been travelling with Saga for over 20 years; at least 17 holidays with them, mostly long haul tours, but a couple of short hauls and one hotel based holiday. We don't always use Saga, but they are our first choice when deciding. PROS: Free phone calls with no press button menus. Insurance included. I have a couple of fairly minor medical problems which Saga do not rate me for. Other insurance companies can load my premiums to an extortionate amount, especially for non-European holidays. Great itineraries, with lots of different experiences, e.g. white water rafting in Borneo, zip-lining in Costa Rica, elephant and camel trekking in Thailand and India. They also look after the less able with great care, ensuring that they gain full enjoyment from their holiday. Decent hotels, some exceptional such as the Baan Boran in Thailand, Lake Palace in Udaipur and Princess in Skiathos. Car from home to airport and return on long haul tours. Porterage of luggage. Much needed on tours when there are multiple hotels, and on Greek Island Hopping, when you are on and off ferries. Leave your luggage your room and find it outside your room at next hotel. No registration at hotels, Saga organise it all for you. Included cost of visas. With only one exception, excellent Folkestone trained Tour Managers, who take really good care of you (essential for some older people) and you feel would be able to organise things in an emergency. Call centre staff are usually very helpful and will answer even minor queries and requests with politeness and patience. Many people, I think, have not researched their holiday and have unrealistic expectations. Someone complained that the quality of hotels is going down, but with our economic climate Saga cannot always use top quality hotels without greatly increasing their prices. I consider that their holidays are exceptional value for money, with so much included. Cons: This was once a family based company, but since selling out their administration can leave something to be desired, we have had a couple of issues over incorrect information over the last five years, but this has always been sorted out before we travelled. Comparing Saga with other UK based companies we have always found that the level of service is far superior to most. I cannot speak for the very high end package tours as I haven't used them due to monetary constraints. We have had a week with Saga in a greek hotel this year and have a tour of Morocco coming up in October. Considering another next year on a motor cruiser along the Croatian coast. Which I am sure we will enjoy. Never had a bad Sage holiday yet.

Some of the critical reviews here give a misleading impression in my experience. We have been on 6 Saga holidays and have just booked to go to India next autumn. In all cases, the booking staff have been excellent - very helpful, answering the smallest questions (either from personal experience or asking colleagues), and generally being very supportive and polite. On two holidays we had problems outside Saga direct control (coach breakdown, railay attraction closed), and my letters after were dealt with promptly, and every point I had made was specifically addressed - in one case, compensation was given without request. I imagine Saga is not perfect - its a big holiday company - but I have been more than happy with the support they have given. And indeed, with their holidays, but thats another topic. I have no hesitation recommending their service to others. I have no connection whatsoever with Saga !!

We went to Egypt in November of 2010, to see Egypt and land of the pharoes. Our experience was excellent. We had professional service from booking our trip until coming back to the UK, we could not have asked for better service.
On our arrival to Cairo, we were met by Saga airport staff who made our path through immigration seamless. Our tour manager Mohammed was excellent a true professional with a very good sense of humour. All the places where we stayed and visited was well presented and the knowledge of our guide was very good, we could not have asked for better. Yes, there were about 3 people out of 42 who had tummy problems, however Mohammed soon got them medication and they saw this as only a'blib'' in their holiday.
On a whole it was an excellent trip. SAGA, well done. We will be travelling with you again in the very near future.

My husband and I have had several holidays with Saga and have enjoyed them all very much. Costa Rica tour was special with first class tour guide, Rocky Mountaineer/Alaska cruise was magnificent, and last year's Majestic Line small boat cruise around the sea lochs of Scotland was wonderful - such a caring crew looked after us. Saga is not cheap. I have mobility problems which are considered and eased at all stages by interested reservations staff and mature, kind and knowledgeable tour guides.

Just returned from Gran Canaria where we stayed at the Costa Canaria Hotel at San Augustin. This is our first holiday with Saga but hopefully definitely not our last. The hotel was welcoming with porter service to our room. Rooms had a lovely view over the pools and towards the sea. Bedrooms were roomy and had a large bathroom. Tea and coffee making facilities would have been appreciated. But hey, minor details. Unfortunately I became ill during my holiday (No fault of the hotel) The Saga rep. Jackie could not have been more helpful, therefore making a situation less stressfull. No matter what time of day she was always available for help or advice.
I loved the idea of sunbeds being allocated therefore saving the mad panic after breakfast trying to find a bed to sunbathe. Apart from my illness I found this hotel totally relaxing and friendly and would not hesitate in returning or recommending it. If this is the usual standard of Saga holidays I look forward to visiting further hotels in the near future

My husband and I went to Tangerine Beach Hotel in Sri Lanka last January, and had a wonderful three weeks. What made the holiday was our rep Adrian. He is an absolute treasure. We really wanted to go back again this January but are going to Borneo instead. I hope that the SAGA rep will be just as great as Adrian. We will not travel with anyone else now that we have found SAGA holidays to be so brilliant.

We have just returned from a fabulous four week holiday in Sri Lanka at the Palm Bay Resort. This was our first time in using Saga Holidays to arrange our holiday and it will definitely not be the last, despite some other postings.
I have to say that I found all of the tele-sales teams were extremely knowledgeable, friendly and efficient. Travel documents with full itinerary arrived promptly three weeks (despite Christmas post) prior to our departure. Every bit of our holiday was excellently organised and I cannot reiterate how pleased we were.
We are well travelled and have come across numerous company representatives over the years, which are only interested in selling tours. The resident resort Saga representative was the by far the best we have come across in all ours years of travelling. He went out of his way to ensure that all Saga guests were comfortable and enjoying themselves. He would sit and enjoy a cup of tea or coffee and a friendly chat with different guests most evenings, especially those who had travelled alone. It seemed he worked well beyond the hours he was supposed to do and took a special interest in ensuring the elderly guests did not have any problems. He went that extra mile to ensure everyone had a thoroughly enjoyable holiday.

I would recommend Saga after this, my first trip in December 2007 to Las Palmas. Very good service from reps all the time - hotel excellent.

As this was a reasonably cheap late holiday booking, my husband and I were delighted with Saga's compensation to us for changing our hotel and for the inconvenience we suffered. Having travelled to London from Glasgow to get our flight, we were pretty tired by the time we got to Lanzarote. Discovering we were not going to where we had booked could have been upsetting, but as this was our first trip to Lanzarote, it did not bother us too much. As it was we were delighted with the beautiful Iberostar Hotel in Puerto Calera and to get it all inclusive was a real bonus, plus our cash compensation into the bargain. We can't thank Saga enough for our wonderful holiday and we will certainly deal with saga Holidays in the future as well as recommending them to friends and family.
