I Was Lent This Russel Hobbs Jnr 10882 Bread Maker
I was lent this Russel Hobbs Jnr 10882 bread maker to try by a friend as he wasn't getting on too well with the bread rising.
I use a Panasonic SD255 and used their recipes for making both white and wholemeal bread in the Russel Hobbs. Just as my friend found I wasn't able to get the bread to rise very much and found the end product very dense compared to the Panasonic.
I suspect the problem is to do with the shorter length of time the Russel Hobbs takes to process a loaf, this seems to be about 2 hours less which makes me wonder if more rising time is needed.
I eventually tried making a white loaf on the longer wholemeal setting, this was slightly more successful but not a lot.
Overall with out too much thought I will keep using the Panasonic.

This Machine Makes A Good Size Loaf And The Odd Ca
This machine makes a good size loaf and the odd cake when required. The main advantage to the normal large machine is that it is a size that can be left out on the worktop aiding regular use. I have enjoyed using the different programms for pizza dough to sweet brioche along side the usual wholemeal settings.
As an initiate to breadmaking I would lied to have known about the paddle leaving such an imprint in the bottom of the loaf.

Being new to baking I never realised there's a difference between Dry Active Yeast and Instant Yeast. Although the recipes specify Dry Active Yeast I've been using Instant Yeast with absolutely no problems. Every loaf baked with my Russell Hobbs breadmaker have been perfect.

The recipes only use dry active yeast; none use instant yeast.
The Russell Hobbs 10882 Breadman Junior needs to have more flexibility on using other ingredients; eg. non-gluten flours and healthy products.
None of my bread has come out good since I started using the machine, so I have lost interest.

It Would Be Better If There Were More Trouble Shoo
It would be better if there were more trouble shooting tips in the manual and if the Russell Hobbs 10882 Breadman Junior worked as well as it did the first couple of times it would definitely be a winner!
Q&A
I live in South Africa and have lost my kneading paddle. Where can I buy a replacement part at a reasonable price as I am being advised that this machine has been discontinued.
My breadmaker does the mixing etc but when the Baking cycle starts in the last hour it trips the power, any advice please?
I found that the products that the bread I make in my Breadman, doesn't rise to much and the end product is very dense and heavy, although its got a nice color. It wasn't like this at first when I started to use the machine. I made a madeira cake this morning. It didn't rise well, but the taste is delicious and its got n very nice color. Can you please tell me what the problem is, or am I doing something wrong? Thanks
I want to remove the padded before baking process starts, how do I know when the mixing and rising time has finished. How long is the actual baking period?
