Worst estate agent I have come across. If possible I would have given negative star but no option to do so. No integrity and very unethical. Especially DONT deal with manager of gasgoigne halman in Altrincham- the most unethical person. They encouraged another interested buyer to put a higher offer and gazumped the property for which our offer was already accepted. We hd spent on solicitor and also had survey done on the property. They pushed us to proceed very quickly with our purchase and when we got the survey done and spent money on it and got the solicitor involved, they played this dirty trick on us. They should be behind bars and not in property business. They are severely abusing vulnerable buyers who are not aware of this kind of thing.

Right from the beginning their attitude was horrible. Right from the beginning they were giving us wrong information and every time we called we would get different information from different agents. Overall they are not honest and CANNOT be trusted.

I requested information on placing my property on the market from both the Knutsford and Holmes Chapel branches.

Holmes Chapel failed to respond despite a number of reminders and Knutsford stated we were 'way too far' from any of their offices to warrant proceeding. Our property lies 12 miles from Knutsford and 7.3 miles from Holmes Chapel.

If you require a professional and helpful agent, I would avoid Gascoigne Halman at all costs.

If you think gazuping is an unethical act then don't deal with the person I dealt with. In our case we had an offer accepted on a property and the person I dealt with contacted another interested buyer without any instruction from the seller and instigated the gazuping of our offer. Not a man with any integrity. Buyers beware

Avoid these if you can. Very rude and unhelpful and that's if you can eventually get hold of someone.

We purchased a property via Gascoigne Halman.

The purchase was successful without any hiccups from our side (finances / solicitors etc).

The behaviour of the Gascoigne Halman manager was not great at the start but nothing worthy of feedback. As the transaction progressed, I experienced a worsening rude and unprofessional behaviour, the worst I have seen in any business, never mind real estate.

After the purchase transaction was completed, we needed to select a letting agent (since we had purchased a buy to let property). We decided to use Gascoigne Halman since they had advertised BOLOF (Buy One Let One Free) during the purchase of the property and we could save on letting agreement fees.

Even though there was a rentals specialist at the office we found ourselves dealing once again with the same manager and we had more of the same incredibly rude and unprofessional behaviour.

After the end of the tenancy agreement (ie at the earliest opportunity) we changed our letting agent to another company.

As a result the purchase and then letting experience we will never be doing any form of business with Gascoigne Halman again.

So it is true what they say about estate agents being the lowest of the low. Our experience is they lie and are entirely unethical in managing offers for a house. We were entirely coerced into offering more for a property on the proviso that the house would be removed from the market. Surprise surprise the next day someone out-bid us and we were into a bidding war. This was entirely engineered by the agent dealing with the house.

Unfortunately this has now put us off the house, not because of the property but because of the individual agent we have been dealing with, I would certainly not recommend this agency and will not be using them going forward. It is a very disappointed occurence when something or someone lives up to their appalling stereotype. I do understand that the estate agency do need to ensure the best price for their client, but i do not think this should be achieved by lying and coercing buyers and operating in an entirely unethicial manner. I will be reporting this to the estate agency omboardsman.

I have been dealing with Gascoine Halman over the past few weeks in the Knutsford office. I am relocating from London and have been studying the local lettings market for months to find somewhere to live.

A new house appeared advertised to let. I called immediately and was told that it was already gone. But it couldn’t have gone as it only appeared hours ago….

The truth behind the story was that Gascoine Halman had undervalued a house, taken it on to their books and then let it under the market price to one of their own employees that works in the Knutsford office.

I knew the house was undervalued because I was willing to pay £150 more each month for the same property. I don’t believe that my offers were even passed on to the landlord…

As a tenant – I could not have been in a better position, perfect credit score, high salary, professional occupation and yet amazingly, apparently the landlord decided they would prefer someone who worked in the local estate agents and were happy to subsidize the rent for them to the tune over almost £2,000 over the course of the year!

Some thing sounds very fishy about this situation to me and I would be very careful if you engage the services if this fly-by-night organization…

Horrendous experience. Arrogant sales team - if you are not one of their favoured buyers you are unlikely to be able to purchase a (desirable) property through Gascoigne Halman.

We put our house on the market in april only had two viewings. The agents made no contact to re market our property or advise on reducing price. The staff were intimidating and not interested in our property at all. We have since moved to a different agent who we are very happy with.

My husband and I were first time buyers with a reasonable budget but staff were rude and unhelpful when searching for properties, to such an entent that if we liked the look of a property and it was with Gascoigne Halman we would not view the house.
