“Worst Experience Ever”

The staff are polite when you are booking but don't be fooled. Once they have your money they are no help whatsoever. I heard them mocking me and making comments in the background when trying to cancel my holiday. They also over charged us £719 and would refund this. Id recommend going straight into a travel agent and missing out the middle man. It would have been cheaper and a far better service

Having booked a trip to Andorra with Freedom Direct Holidays, and paid a healthy supplement for a superior room, which in reality didn't exist! I naturally lodged a complaint with FD. Suprise surprise, English customer service is again proved to be "the consumers problem" -3 phone calls, numerous e-mails- all ignored and now it appears FD have gone bust -my problem again it appears! Appaling customer service and had they not called in the administrators, I would never use them again anyway

In February 2009, I booked and paid for a holiday through Freedom Direct for June. I suspected there was a problem then, but I had checked the ATOL and ABTA sites first. I paid by credit card despite the premium, but wanted the security against loss in case of problems. Also paid for the 'Supplier Failure Cover'. (Wasted more money there.)
I bought a 'Package' but it was not registered by FD.
Hays Travel informed me by Email, only the hotel had not been paid.
During a phone call, I was told if I wished to have the holiday, I'd have to pay again, not only for the hotel part, but transfer as well.
As FD was "Backed by Hays Travel" why were they not being monitored by internal audit that should have prevented the collapse.
Malpractice causes upset for many people, but will the perpetrators be punished? Or will that infringe their 'Human Rights'?
My holiday will not be the happy one it should have been, my spending money has been used to double pay for it.

Booking procedure good - no problems. Taxi failed to show at airport. Incorrect information given by operative in UK concerning canceling return taxi. Complaints department extremely unhelpful and have failed to answers the points raised. Good prices, booking system but dreadful complaints department. Two letters later I am still trying to get an answer from Freedom Direct Holidays.

We do not blame Freedom Direct in anyway and have not asked for any compensation, we just think people should be aware of how poor this hotel is. Our holiday was from end of Aug 08 for 2 weeks. Immediately it was obvious the food was a problem, served on a heated servery in large trays, it was all only lukewarm. On barbeque nights the food is out by the pool, very nice, however what was in the trays had been their for 90 minutes and was invariably stone cold, meat from the barbeque often still bloody and all salad stuffs including cheese etc unchilled. The overall cleanliness of the hotel was also poor.

Altinkum was a lovely resort but I would not book with Freedom Direct again. I had to pick tickets on the saturday from local post office as I was flying on Sunday. Only to find I had no apartment booking or tranfer booking only my flight tickets. I had to get them email me both of them. I arrived to resort to find Pedya Aqua was closed early. Thank god they were, it looked disgusting! We were transferred to the Esra. On the return flight, we were picked up 10 clock, but our flight was 3.45, had to amuse ourselves at Bodrom for an extra 2 hours.

Having booked a holiday with this company in august I have nothing but problems and am wondering whether we will get what we have paid for.
Having phoned and emailed this company every week since the booking no one as yet has been able to upgrade the flights (the luggage allowance is 15k as opposed to 20k and we were never given the option to upgrade at the time of booking) or to cancel the taxi transfers (we were told we would pay one price and were in fact charged more). To date I have not found this company reliable.

Did not find this agency very good except when taking your money. Didn't tell us flight time had changed, didn't tell the taxi company at the other end our flight had changed. We had to pay 50 euros on taxis and then waited 6 mths after numerous phone calls to get our money back.

I have booked to go to Corfu with Freedom Direct on their website. I wanted to add some upgrades to the flight ie inflight meals etc, however having tried to contact them for the last 5 days I eventually managed to get through on Thursday morning to be told someone would ring me back which they didn't. I phoned this morning to be told that as the flight wasn't booked direct with the airline no additional upgrades could be made. I phoned the flight provider to be told that it could be however as the flight is within the next 7 days I was too late! I wish they had told me this before. This is totally unprofessional. They are a nightmare to contact, their phones were never answered and when you do you speak to so called Travel Consultants who can't even deal with your query. Needless to say I won't be using them and I won't be recommending them to anyone either.

The departure and arrival times did not match the hotel booking times. When I phoned customer service department to inform them of this they put me through to Freedom Flights customer service department. They informed me that I had to go back to Freedom Direct to raise my query. When I rang Freedom Direct once again, they kept me on hold for 15 minutes, when I eventually got through the phone, the line cut-off. I re-rang Freedom Direct and once again waited another 15 minutes. The customer service person informed me that I was correct that the times on the ticket were not in correspondance to the hotel booking times, but not to worry the hotel reps will look out for flight arrivals so it should not be a problem. I will not be using Freedom Direct again.

We booked a flight to Turkey recently and when we got there we found the hotel we were supposed to be staying at had no such reservations made!!! and then we were transferred to some other hotel and told that a taxi would take us there because it was there fault we had to move hotels, only at the end of the journey the cab driver made us pay!!! We booked for 6 people- 6beds! but had to settle for 4 single beds!!! not very happy at alllllllllllll!!!!!

Book over the net its better or use a better company! I wish we had been told that there were roadworks outside the apartment we are staying that start at 7am, was not told this when booked and left it to late to change accomodation. Was told that only 5 seats left and would have to book there and then, only to check that there are still seats available one month later. Would never use them again, customer service did not help, except for one member of staff who was helpful.

There were nine of our party going all booked at same time, it was my first time abroad with my son since breakup of marriage. All the others in party had their tranfers booked mine and my son did not have due to a mistake with Freedom Direct; i had to get and pay taxi 73 euros to get to apts when returning home Freedom Direct were not interested they offered me £44 95 so all in all they only gave me £22 47 back. I still had to pay the taxi from the airport so i will not be travelling with them again and i will tell anyone who is thinking about travelling with them to think again. Rubbish.

In Sidari at present on holiday which we booked through Freedom Direct. Arrrived with a party of 11, 2 of which are 80 years plus, and one pregnant. Arrived at 1130 at night to be told that there was no accomodation booked for us. Hotel was hospitable on giving us a night in another hotel. Next day phoned Freedom Direct to see what had happened. Blamed fault on lowcost beds but after all our money was paid to Freedom Direct so they were responsible. Paid for 4* accommodation but received 2* approx 30 minutes walk away! 2* accommodation has barely any cooking facilitites, no cleaning service, showers don't work, no pool bar, the list is endless. This is not what we paid for!
Overall very bad handling of situation and we will certainly never be booking with Freedom Direct again.

This company is cheap but I'd rather pay more in future to get better service, if it's their fault hotels are over booked why should we have to pay? I'm 18 and went with a friend, our taxi that we booked with freedom didn't even drop us off at the hotel it dropped us off at the top of a open road and we had to walk 15 mins to find it, thought the hotel was very poor and we are fighting to get our money back because we found this a holiday from hell that should have been a fantastic holiday if we had gone to where we had booked for.

Booked a holiday through Freedom Direct for Benalmadena, but I will never use them again.
I don't remember a mention on their website that we had to pay extra for our luggage, and had to pay 48 pounds at the airport before we even left for our holiday. Told if we had booked by phone, we would have been told this.
The taxi shuttle we booked was sent away because we took ages getting through passport control at Malaga.
The hotel hadn't been booked.
The return shuttle was rearranged for 4 hours before take-off, although the airport was only 20 minutes away.

I didn't end up travelling due to ill health and have contacted Freedom Direct on 5 occasions by phone and in writing since to obtain a correct cancellation letter from them for my insurance claim but with no luck. Their customer service number is rarely answered and there is no real help at the other end. Once they have sold you a holiday they are not interested. I am having to pursue this with ABTA now. The price might be reasonable but the hassle and lack of customer service is not worth it.

We were originally booked to go to Bodrum - Turkey on the 4th may 2008. This holiday was a celebration for my 21st and mine and my partners engagement. My partners parents rang and booked for the 4 of us and then gave the booking details to my parents so they could also make a booking for 4 people but they charged my parents an extra £200 stating the special offer had ended within the space of 10 minutes!!
About 2 weeks ago the company rang my partners parents and said the flights had changed from the Sunday night to the Sunday morning- fair enough we thought - but they didn't contact my parents. My mother phoned to be told it was an error and the flight had not changed and it was an error! About an hour later the company phoned back to say again they had made an error and the flights had changed to the FRIDAY!!!So after changing holidays at work we agreed to go on the Friday (02/05/08).
Just last week they phoned to say they could no longer get us in the hotel we wanted and offered us a 3* hotel when we originally had a 4* when we complained about this they then offered us a 5* SCORE!! Oh no this was short lived as the next day - just 7 days before we were due to go they phoned and said the flights had been cancelled!!!!!! After a strongly worded conversation with the company my partners father got a refund and was told we would get compensation. Both sets of parents were told the money would be in their accounts today so went to Thomas Cook 2 days ago and booked a holiday in Side-Turkey in a 5* new hotel- just opening on 01/05/08 and it worked out cheaper we have all the correct confirmation and everything!!
And surprise surprise no money in the banks today and when I phoned tonight they didn't seem to have a clue what I was on about! They eventually said we were getting a full refund but there had been a system problem so that's why it hadn't gone through - but had no details on the compensation!!!
This is stated in the terns and conditions so I told the woman straight! Awaiting a phone call from a supervisor but we are not holding our breath it has really tainted our holiday due to all the stress and worry!!

Sound like the same thing as happened to others here - We got to the hotel and found no reservation for our room even thought we had all the paperwork so had to pay for a room. They did not respond to calls, letters or emails about my complaint either and I have been waiting 9 months.
