I have stayed in the Grand in Scarborough twice, it is excellent value for money. My only criticisms are there is no Wi Fi connection in the rooms...even my Vodafone dongle wouldnt work in the room, Wi Fi is available in the main reception area but I had a problem finding a seat. This was a BIG no no for me as the purpose of my visit was business and needed access to the internet all evening and I didnt really want to sit in the reception area all evening. When I asked the reception if I could plug in my laptop somewhere to charge it the girl replied that there was no need to plug in as it was a Wi Fi connection..Lord help me I thought ! My room was very ok, a bit dated but ok, tea and coffee in the room which was nice, T V worked fine, cleanliness was good, the room was very cold though, reception staff I found to be a little abrupt but the staff in the bar were great, I spent a pleasant afernoon in the bar with its beautiful sea views and good coffee and cake at an excellent price.The buffet breakfast is very ok, eat as much as you like, very good I thought. All in all this is a good value place to stay right in the centre of Scarborough, for those people here complaining bitterly about everything the Grand has to offer then I suggest to them to go and pay top dollar for another hotel, you get what you pay for, in my book the Grand is grand....but please please to those in management there...get internet access in the rooms, this is 2011 now.....bring the Grand into the the 21st century....also, turn up the heating, its cold in those rooms.
