“Mummy Returns delivers fun and spectacle.”

Those who disliked the first movie will find nothing to persuade them that this is a franchise worth bothering with, but for fans, The Mummy Returns delivers fun and spectacle.

“Nice Movie”

The special effects of The Mummy Returns are dated but the fight scenes are well-staged and very exciting. One of the movie's great strengths is the art direction. It brilliantly creates a mood. Overall Nice Movie.

“Superb Movei!”

★★★★☆

I loved this movie, even the special corny effects, unrealistic sequences of action. It's a great movie, it's comedic, it's packed with action, but the overall plot is absolutely engaging!

The cast of The Mummy return for this sequel with a pace faster than a cheetah on steroids. The plot is the usual good vs evil fare with Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz trying to rescue their son from the resurrected Imhotep who is planning to conquer the world using the army of an ancient Egyptian warrior called The Scorpion King (played by WWF's The Rock for about 2 minutes and with around 5 words of dialogue). Cue chase scenes, gun battles, sword fights, pygmy mummies, magic spells, plenty of CGI monsters and lots and lots of sand. The action never lets up - arguably because it has to make up for a wafer-thin script and some pretty uninspired performances by the actors - but you won't get bored. Overall if you're expecting a sophisticated storyline with character depth look elsewhere, but if you're after fun pure popcorn fodder you won't go far wrong with this film.

The Mummy Returns is a film that should keep you on the edge of your seat but doesn't. It should have been made a PG, not a 15.
