We bought an Isande fridge freezer which went faulty start of May this year, with the alarm repeatedly triggering because the freezer can’t reach temperature resulting in the compressor running constantly and getting dangerously hot. Our guarantee is still valid for this item. So far we’ve not been able to get a replacement because IKEA refuse to communicate with their UK regional Electrolux teams who manage guarantee repairs. We’ve had four attempted repair visits from Electrolux’s regional representatives each resulting in no fix and now are stuck with a defective unit. The last engineer allowed me to photograph his report form saying the fridge freezer cannot be economically repaired, which was sent to Electrolux. IKEA say all we can do is raise an internal complaint which so far is getting us nowhere, so I want to warn all potential electrical item purchasers to avoid IKEA as they do not honour their guarantees any more. You don’t want to be without a fridge freezer when the UK reaches 40 degrees C, as we have been.

Kitchen is fine! The fitter originally provided though did awful prework. We sacked them and now they are taking us to court! Replacement fitter was great though. So we have an ok kitchen but also a court case to deal with! With a poorly child and death in family I wish I went to a local kitchen provider in first place so I didn’t have to deal with all the drama that has accompanied the kitchen!

Here goes…. I had an IKEA kitchen installed in my last house which was great, loved the products and the process was seamless down to a fantastic installation team from Worcester, so thank you, Skye, from Wednesbury I moved again so decided I’d repeat the process… a big mistake… never go to Nottingham IKEA kitchen department Firstly, I couldn’t get a measure appointment because I didn’t have a Nottingham postcode. A month later they arrived but couldn’t do the plan, so I had to travel an hour each way to achieve that. I booked a planning appointment in store, and the first chap I saw was great, really helpful, and listened … I had to go back but couldn’t see the same guy, so saw someone else, who caused total chaos. The right hand doesn’t talk to the left hand and thanks to her my kitchen was delayed another six weeks. Even worse, she changed the original order and missed off the cost of the microwave which I later had to pay for separately so that didn’t help my budget. Her communication skills were totally disjointed, so much so that at one point she wrote that she’d finished her bit and the installation team would take it from there. Except they didn’t communicate at all. Nightmare It was only through sheer determination that I actually got it sorted, but no one seems to know what they’re doing and to be honest, having to phone up every day is no joke. It’s a great pity that such a team let down the reputation of a good product, the kitchen is great. But at what cost. I would not recommend Nottingham at all, and that’s a pity …

We went to ikea and planned a pantry room with one of the kitchen designers on 17th Dec. We were happy with design and cost so wished to proceed. We were told they’d arrange a pre install visit just to finalise measurements then we could order our kitchen. As it was just before Christmas we knew the visit might be early in the new year so we didn’t worry too much about it. By 12th January we still hadn’t heard from IKEA so we started to enquire what was happening. Long story short we got a series of unhelpful, borderline argumentative emails from a customer service rep who was insisting someone had come out on 24th Dec to our home and the report was uploaded to our record, also that the price had gone up by £300 based on this visit. This went back and forth stupidly with the woman not answering our request for a call until she finally realised she was wrong and explained the wrong report was uploaded to our file. Eventually a fitter arrived to measure on 17th Jan, he was fab confirmed everything but due to delay the very soonest he had available to fit was 28th March. We weren’t happy but it was the best we could have and at least things were moving forward. Our pantry/kitchen was installed over 3 days (28th -30th March). On day one the fitter realised their went enough cabinet legs and reported this to IKEA. They invoiced me for the £12 required and the fitter had to go and collect them meaning he had to stop working to do so, meanwhile a customer service rep calls out to our home whilst he’s gone, seeming annoyed that he wasn’t there as she was calling to check progress. Well perhaps it would have made sense for her to bring the missing items as she was coming anyway, and as a gesture of good will for free as it was their mistake? No that would make far too much sense for IKEA. We also have a large larder cupboard that was supposed to be fitted with soft close drawers but the wrong hinges were supplied and the drawers can’t be installed because the wouldn’t be able to open past the larder door. We were supposed to get a call back from a customer service rep who told us he’d check in, he also said get in touch in the meantime if he can help. Well he doesn’t answer emails, and when I’ve tried to get through I was cut off twice as soon as o explained I needed help with an issue. The fitter finished last Wed and in his report he explained the kitchen isn’t finished the way it was designed (although his work is excellent I have to say). Still waiting on IKEA acknowledging me or getting in touch. It’s incredibly irritating and disappointing because their products are great, but their customer service is horrendous. I would seriously rather pay more to a kitchen company than go through dealing with them again. Do yourself a favour and stick to only buying things you can build yourself and don’t need any customer service with!

Having bought an IKEA kitchen, as per other reviewers, we were shocked to realise there was no service gap and we had to cut holes in the floor cabinets to accommodate pipes. Once the Bejublad oven (made by Electrolux) was installed, I realised that there is no alarm. Googling this, it appears that the US model has an alarm included, but not the UK one. There is a 'timer' which consists of three quick beeps which can only be heard if you happen to be in the kitchen at the time they go off at the end of cooking, but no alarm. IKEA couldn't care less and the person I spoke to at Electrolux told me he found it odd that they had designed an oven with no alarm and suggested I speak with their repairers.... The repairers said it was nothing to do with them if Electrolux had designed an oven with no alarm. Also, it appears I am stuck with the oven as, legally, the onus was on me to check whether or not it had an alarm before I bought it. Even though I would have thought an alarm was standard on any oven nowadays. Terrible service. The IKEA customer service rep seemed absolutely gleeful that she could offload the problem onto someone else.

I never write negative reviews. But I am so angry right now, and this is the only recourse I have at this point. I am a big Ikea fan. So it made sense for us to get an Ikea kitchen when we decided to renovate. We waited for the new system to come out, and are very happy with how the cabinets look. We had the usual hiccups, but overall getting the cabinets ordered and installed was easy. We hired an Ikea and installer and it took just a few days. So why am I mad? Because we decided to go through Ikea for our counters. a BIG MISTAKE. If we hadn't done that, our kitchen would be done now. BUT, at this point, the Ikea kitchen department has not only dropped the ball, they've thrown it away. The counter people came out 10 days ago to measure. The process is after they measure, they send that to Ikea. If we owed any more, we'd need to make that payment before the counter people could fabricate and install. Well, it took 4 days for Ikea to ask for authorization to charge $165 (mind you, at this point we've spend over $8k with them). BUT all they sent was a signature form. Apparently they also needed to call to get the credit card number. Six days later, we'd still heard nothing, despite two calls and four emails asking if they needed anything else from us. I contacted the counter people and confirmed they had not been authorized to continue yet. I then spent hours trying to get to someone in the kitchen department to help. Finally, at 7 p.m. yesterday they called and got the credit card number, and promised they were going to send the authorization to the counter people immediately. So here we are, 4 p.m. the next day and still no authorization. I called Ikea (nearly dying when someone actually answered the phone). But, alas, she was having some sort of computer problem and has to call me back. Yeah right. I have a feeling I'll be waiting a very long time for that call to come through. Yes, I am venting. And in all honesty, I will continue shopping at Ikea. But this is unacceptable customer service. I expected so much more from them. If we hadn't already paid for the counter in full, I would cancel this order in a heartbeat and find a local installer that could have the job done for me in 48 hours. Let this be a cautionary tale: when you get your Ikea kitchen, find another source for your counter.

Similar situation here: kitchen ordered in November, including provisional order for worktops (approximate measurements only as couldn't be final until all cabinets fitted, together with temporary worktop from Ikea). Delivery arrived and installed as agreed in January. No problems so far, and happy with how things looked. THEN, re-measured for worktop, firm, final order placed in February with committed delivery date March 22nd (Sunday). Not delivered. Called Ikea: had to be couriered to address because as stone, couldn't be delivered by Ikea (?) and no deliveries on a Sunday.. Arranged delivery for following day. Delivery incomplete. Called Ikea: delivery order had been split into two, rest to be delivered March 29th. (Except it couldn't be because that was another Sunday...). Delivery eventually arrived, but item missing. Called Ikea: splash back for hob had been cancelled from original provisional order, re-ordered, then cancelled again. Rather than wait, we requested installation of the items we had received in early April The worktops were a very tight fit and minor damage to recently re-plastered walls, BUT. a big BUT, the upstands were oversized and would never fit. Called Ikea again. Firstly, items were to be re-ordered from Germany. Secondly THREE WEEKS LATER, they were going to be take to a stone mason's facility to be trimmed down to correct size. The upshot is that it's now near the end of May (6 months after original order), and kitchen is still not fully finished. No final installation date as yet provided,. As well as this prolonged installation time frame, it's WE, the customer, who are calling Ikea to find out what's happening, not Ikea calling us. Never again Ikea!!

Bit of a long story....... Planned the kitchen so it would be finished by Xmas 2014 No such luck! Had a very good Ikea guy came and measured and sent several designs July 2014. Went on and purchased the kitchen in store August 2014 and thrilled with the design and quote. Order delivered for October 2014 from different delivery companies and different parts of Ikea. PARTS MISSING and some items not required? Fitters came from a company contracted by Ikea who also 'contracted - out' to self - employed fitters - so the fitters came in October without an Ikea plan and fitted the whole kitchen in two days....very quick. However they couldn't complete as doors and hinges missing. No dishwasher door etc etc etc... The installation company tried to help by contacting Ikea to get the missing items. It was fairly hopeless trying to get through to Ikea just listening to Abba for ages and running up phone bills. I emailed Ikea in the end. Eventually with the help of the installation company deliveries came between November - December after much anguish and time trying to get the missing items but it was too late to get fitted before Christmas - so fridge in packaging and loads of boxes in the hallway for Christmas :@( The next fitters were from the installation company and they were really good and they arrived February 2015 and found where the finish was wrong. Cabinets not 'wrapped' properly and the backsplash wall panel cut wrongly and had blown with water by the sink as not sealed correctly. They arranged for more orders for the remedial work and the installation company again were very helpful. March 2015 saw return of the better fitters (as requested) - who had to remove white filler and the wall panels, which was tricky and took the plaster off the walls - where the glue had been. It was a really difficult job and they did well to make it all look so good. They were great and now I have a kitchen that I love. Thanks to the people I dealt with at DTW. Bit of a journey! But it's not over yet? I have to try to get boxes of unused items from the original order (that have been in the Hallway from October 2014) back to Ikea for a refund! Wish me luck? Hope no-one else has this experience :^0 Nice kitchen though eventually!

Its been 3 weeks since my kitchen was installed. I can say it looks good but not as good as the ones in the store. If you want it installed, plan to spend AT LEAST twice the price the store advertises. At delivery, make sure every single item you ordered is delivered. Costumer service is non-existing!

Bought and self-fitted over a year ago. Worktop is good value and units ok, however since discovered I could have got solid built, better quality units, from howdens for less money. My biggest issue is quality of handles. Ours started to flake, bubble after 7 months. Unfortunately, we didn't get around to customer services to report this until 13 months had elapsed . Ikeas response??? Couldn't care less, wouldn't even consider a discount on replacements, despite them clearly being poor quality. Whilst I could pursue a tradings standards type case, it's so much hassle as to hardly be worth it. Just won't ever buy anything like that again from ikea.

We chose the IKEA kitchen as an economical way to get what seemed a quality kitchen previous to selling our home. To simplify the matter , and because we had no experience designing a kitchen, we also paid for the personal consultation. We were so certain that the consultation would be worthwhile that we were willing to wait the two month delay for an appointment. The consultation seemed to go well enough. The designer was pleasant and agreeable to work with, as seemed all the individual IKEA employees we were to come in contact with. However, the good feelings soon took a nosedive, as complications arose. First, going back to the IKEA store and discussing details of the kitchen with another employee, the figure the original consultation had indicated as the total price for the product, dismantling and removal of the old kitchen, and itemized quote for installation of the new kitchen, had changed considerably. And not in our favor. IKEA disputed our claim and noted that it was our word against the consultant. They had their notes and I had mine. After several trips to the store in an effort to at least get clarification of prices, I asked for an itemized price quote for the installation of the new kitchen, a service that was supposed to be included in the consultation service. I was told it would take a week.,and that any action, even the removal of the old kitchen would still be at least a month after I actually signed the contract. Three weeks later and still no word from IKEA. At that point I dismissed any plan to use IKEA and wrote the experience off as a lesson well learned. In summary, the product itself may be a value, and if one had the ability to plan and install their own kitchen, or knows someone who can, IKEA may be worthwhile. But their prices and services are complicated, and coordination of services is poor. Consider using the product, but no other services.

Words out of my mouth and smacks of familiarity two years on. The worst work and service I have EVER experienced in many years. I feel like a rag doll tossed from one department to another by minions who have no personal experience of installing a kitchen. The preferred response to customer dismissal is "AUTOMATED REPLY". It is unbelievable a worldwide organisation like IKEA treats customers in a long drawn out and HUMILIATING AND DISRESPECTFUL MANNER HAVING PAID ALL MONIES UP FRONT AND IN GOOD FAITH? USE YOUR OWN BUILDERS OR YOUR OWN DIY SKILLS AND avoid IKEA unscrupulous installers We did a lot of research before choosing IKEA for our kitchen. We decided to go with them after having a planning meeting with their planners. I can't describe how sorry we are that we decided to go with IKEA. The kitchen itself is very good - nice quality, soft close doors and drawers and lots of nice options. The installation was a disaster from start to finish. The units were not aligned (we're talking inches, not milimeters), the hinges were fitted so tightly that they damaged the interior of the units, the kick boards and the extractor fans just weren't fitted at all, they fitted the wall units so high that the doors wouldn't open (we have a sloping roof). The installers (Kitchen Inspirations) called me up and were so rude, aggressive and sarcastic we decided to just liaise with IKEA directly. At first they were very good and dealt with our concerns very well. However, we then had a letter from IKEA saying that we had lied about all our issues. They took this stance despite us sending them photos and us having an itemised bill from our builder who had to rectify the issues. In addition, we had a lengthy bill from the installers with lots of very high charges for taking the packaging away and almost £100 for each electrical item they had to slide unit the worktop - no plumbing or electrical work, just sliding it under the unit!!! In summary, go with IKEA kitchens ONLY if you have a good builder who can manage the installation directly. If you have any problems, just don't expect any customer 'care' from IKEA. Value For Money

Overall, very disappointed with Ikea and still having issues... After measuring and planning my own kitchen, visited the Nottingham store for advice. The guy assisting was very helpful and suggested a few changes. We decided it best to double check at home before ordering. A week later, we returned to store, confirmed the plan and scheduled a delivery. The delivery turned up 2 items short. Getting through to Ikea on the telephone is impossible whenever you ring. So, another trip to Ikea... Missing parts scheduled for delivery a week later. In the meantime, we discovered the unit doors didnt look right... Close investigation - which took hours to sort out - revealed they had sent us a kitchen based on an old design. Their planner had not saved out the last iteration of the plan online ! Combine this with the fact a carpenter told us we could not cut the worktop as the kitchen planner had suggested, and needed different worktop. Cue another visit to Ikea. Worktops returned by collection, kitchen mess sorted. It's over a month later, I have just received a refund for the worktops - after chasing ikea via email and telephone for weeks, having TWO customer issue numbers. The rest of the kitchen is scheduled for delivery in another week, so it's not even finished yet by a long way. I shouldn't forget to mention the Ikea sink traps and plumbing. Terrible quality. Had a plumber round to make new copper piping for the sink and he laughed and advised they be thrown out. I see his point. They have leaked so badly that one of the kitchen cabinet carcasses is now warped and beyond repair. I wouldn't recommend buying anything substantial from ikea unless you're willing to wait and make numerous journeys into store to resolve issues. It might help if you're a master craftsmen too.

We had no problems with the installation, hired an Ikea installer to do the job. After 4 years the doors have yellowed, and now they are not the same colour as the 'outer' boxes and trim. A few of the cupboard doors have had to be replaced as the tops of them have been chipped and the white flaked off. The new doors have yellowed too. At least they match haha. Lots of chipping of paint here and there. I loved the look of this kitchen, but buyer beware. Thanks for this website!

My cabinet doors also yellowed. After many calls to IKEA and two surveyer's later, IKEA said it was not their problem. The fault was mine because I only had one extractor fan in the kitchen and they said I should have two. Funny that the trims and kick boards stayed white. IKEA's 25year guarantee means nothing as they have closed this case. Very dissatisfied .

I too purchased a white kitchen and it went yellow. I had an accessor come out and he said it was wear and tear. I persisted and sent an email to head of ikea. Sent photos and complained. My kitchen was totally replaced , doors and side panels, skirting so and all trimmings to another design of my choosing. All at Ikeas expense. My advice is be persistent and go to the top and let them know you have a problem.

As having building work done and no experience of kitchen planning I paid for the Ikea planners to come out to check measurements etc, though I had done most of essential design in store with help of store planners. Problems have arisen as whoever uploaded the items from plan missed off cupboards and I have had a nightmare trying to get all the extra items that were either delivered incorrectly or missed off. I have been back to store 4 times (a round trip off around 32 miles) trying to sort issues. One issue, being 6 cupboards short, I have resorted to travelling to the Birmingham Store (round trip 65 miles) to purchase as I am still awaiting a call from the Coventry store to sort 10 days later! The staff are very nice and apologetic but have to follow very complicated protocols to get items ordered. If you call the main customer services number it takes an average of 40-50 minutes for your call to be answered. The first time I spoke to them their answer was I had to go to store. When I explained that I work full time I was told they are open late for that reason. When I arrived at the store at 7pm there we 3 people in front of me an I was told I probably wouldn't get seen that night and would have to come back! It has also ended up costing me almost £600 more than the original quote due to all the items missed off. So much for my cheap well priced kitchen. I also had to find my own installers as they are so back up due to their half price offer otherwise I would have to wait till after Christmas. An Ikea kitchen is not for someone with little DIY knowledge or the time/knowledge to sit and work out your order is exactly what is required (I thought paying a planner would ensure this!) I can only hope that the custom made work tops are correct when they come!!!

I am still wait for my kitchen to be finished. It was started In April after many delays and installer just not turning up. Pleased with units but problem iS been with installer and IKea after service. Plan of kitchen was also miscalculated and part of wall had to be cut away so that the door would close! Numerous calls to ALLY TOMNEY MANAGER and installer RODDY JACK (Highland) WHo although even said he would come to finish kitchen has not returned call. or come to finish job Yet another wasted call today again Looks like I'll need to take this to the small claim court. PLEASE DO NOT USE IKEAS INSTALLATION SERVICE IF YOU LIVE IN THE HIGHLANDS you,'ll be taken for a ride !!!!! Ikea were recommended by a colleague but unfortunately they had a different installer

The big problem with Ikea kitchen base units is that they have no service void at the rear for pipework, cables etc. This means said pipes etc. are in the cupboard-this can require extensive, disruptive (and expensive) fitting.

We have bought a lot of Ikea furniture over the years and overall the quality is very good. However, we just purchased our kithen with them since they handle everything from measure to install, however, the services from measure to install were a disaster. Ikea has transitioned to a preferred installer that can not keep up with demand. From the start the service missed appointments, took wrong measurements and inflated the estimate for demo and install by $500. I am now stuck searching for ikea qualified installers on my own. If you are in the philly area and need your ikea kitchen installed here is a service provider: http://jandgkitchensnremodeling.com/services_provided.html I'm disappointed that a large company like Ikea failed to execute on what they were promising their customers.

We bought an IKEA kitchen and had it installed by their fitters. First the worktop went (the edge by the sink lifted) and it took 3 months of daily calls to get a replacement. Now the cabinet doors are splitting and flaking where the kettle is, by the hob and by the dishwasher. Seems their doors are not really suitable for use in kitchens. The trouble is their sizing is different to everyone else's so you have to replace with their doors unless you want to do the whole kitchen again. Cheap to buy initially but costly in the long term....

You are happy to have your kitchen installed so fast. I had to return my items 6 times...they sent another one's stuff..returned damaged pieces, arrived when they
were told not to..it took us more than a month delay of remodeling time....
We bought it last February and hope to get it installed this 27....they have pieces not in stock...so who knows..
Horrid experience
