This is our local and we stopped going there before the present landlord and chef were there, due to the cold atmosphere and poor food. The pub has been recently decorated by the new landlords and gives a much warmer atmosphere. It was also warm as previous landlords must of kept the heating off and you had to make sure you took a jumper to wear. With the new chef the food was really tasty and good quality. Well done hope they keep it up!

We decided to have our son's christening reception at the Chequers Inn and we were so pleased with our decision! Superb service from start to end and hot buffet put on by Stuart was truly amazing and brought compliments from all! We simply handed over decorations to the landlord the day before and turned up after the church service to exactly what we wanted followed by a large range of hot and cold foods. We would recommend this pub to anyone and everyone. Thanks again, John & Taqwa

We had lunch on Saturday and found the service was excellent and friendly and the food was delicious, prepared and presented with flair.

Our second visit to the Chequers at Berrick Salome in a couple of months and we weren't disappointed. Last time it was a quiet evening drink, child-free (great wine and a lovely cheese board). This time kids in tow. Firstly, the staff, in particular the new(ish) owners, really couldn't do enough for our tribe with children of mixed ages and grandparent - extra straws, colouring, amazing fresh bread and good wine kept us all happy'til our food came which was a little slow but incredibly fresh and well worth the wait. We sat in the lovely old Granary with another family but would've been more than happy in the bright and spacious 'main bit'. Roast beef and chicken with lots of hot veg and burger and wedges were served and although the burger was a little herbie (nothing to do with the white Beetle) the meat and perfectly roasted chicken were just what we needed on a rainy, cold April day! (We commented on the burger to the staff and it was quickly apologised for and taken into account as a reduction on the bill, with no fuss). The large garden again proved priceless afterwards as thankfully the sun came out, and provided the kids with things to climb, play in and a football pitch before the rain came, once again! A very reasonable, good quality and family-friendly pub, not too many of them around! We'll be back soon!

Popped in to The Chequers recently, as we heard it had been taken over. Good extensive new menu, friendly staff and great service. Look out for fish specials every Friday!
