I am talking about Avira 10 this is a buggy product, don't take my word visit their forum. A pro-active module is added to version 10 this itself has caused countless problems being buggy and their advisers tells you to dis-able it!!!!
Those that have a floppy drive, the thing is always kicking up when scanning for viruses, some people who have down-graded to version 9, there are many complaints about this as well, there is a hotfix they Email you with - note Email you, not rectify the problem with an update.
Would I renew my license to version 11 next year? I doubt it because I just wouldn't trust it to be any better than V10.... lets face it, isn't V10 suppose to be better than version 9?
Sorry, when my license runs out it stays runs out. I want a product that I can rely on without having to keep asking for help.

I signed up for a free copy of Avira which at the time I was happy with. All seemed to be working well until a virus hit and knocked out the functionality of Avira completely. I therefore had to download a different anti-virus package to clear the virus and never went back. From my experience of Avira the scans are thorough but it might not be able to deal with the virus once it finds it.

ive used the free software for a long time, and it picks up everything. So i figured i might as well go for the full protection and purchased the premium security package. My advice dont bother.
I had a few problems with the inital installation, tried to contact Avira and they asked me to call their customer support helpline. These were all in Europe ie Germany. None in the UK. all were 090 numbers and they cost like £1.50 pm. No-way i was going to call that, so i sent them an email. All the replies i got from email kept directing me to their knowledge database, half of which is in German.
Finally i have the software working with absolutely no help from their customer support team, now the software keeps playing up and sometimes does not startup automatically, and i have to manual start it. Which is a pain.
My advice, settle for the free version, and if you going to buy this full package, make sure you are willing to call 090 numbers to get it sorted. No problems with the scanning, all is perfect. So basically if you are not an expert in setups and have not got the time to waste to set it up, dont buy it.
