Kennel Connection is NOT created to grow your business. It is intended for very small facilities only. There are so many errors and issues that it creates such chaos to run a successful business. Your staff begins to note that the software makes so many errors and has so many bugs that it’s easy for them to place blame on software for many things. As a business owner- you can imagine that this could be dangerous. You can report all bugs and errors to the company but they state that if they can’t duplicate your issues on their private computers than your issues are a mute point. They have no idea what it’s like to have 10 people in line with barking dogs and software crashing daily. Do not find out the hard way like I did. Research all companies and pick one that works with yor growth plans. This one would it be my first choice.

Okay, I will start by saying I use this software at work, but do not own it. It is extremely layered in details & features to a point that it almost makes no sense at all. It isn't useless & to be quite frank if you take the time to learn it, it does the job fine. I have to say that I've seen programs designed by guys in their late teens, that have a more thought out approach. All the tabs, directories & features that are accessible from every other menu is pointless & confusing (to the average user). I know the sofware well, after studying it for hours, in a non-work environment. No business owner in the kennel industry should want to, much less have to, pay for employees to spend as much time to learn an overly complicated records system. I know many ”real” electronic medical records software & this program makes them seem no more complicated than an etch-a-sketch. I don't know about support, but if it's as runaround as this software is, good luck to any who have to use it.

I have used Kennel Connection for 6 years. I think use is too good a word. I've WORKED AROUND KC for 6 years. The program does NOT work as it's supposed to. There are 'run time errors' galore that shut the system down. Pay over $300 a year and you can get help to fix the error with an "upgrade". Get your upgrade and alas you have 4-5 NEW errors that weren't there the last "fix". Don't pay the additional big bucks for support and you will be told "your support plan expired some time ago". And they WON'T help you. I just want a product that works like it should for the price I paid (over $2000 to date). My current issue; the petsitting commission report is doubling the commission to my sitters so I am stuck going over EVERYTHING and hand adjusting to them correctly. HUGE thumbs down about this product.

Converting from another program, we had some information that could be converted into Kennel Connection. But we found several issues with running Kennel Connection, yes programs may have their quirks, but the quirks continued even after receiving updates, the problems were never fixed. We found the customer service to be poor and when they couldn't answer a question, it went to the president - whom we found arrogant and never took any account for the flaws in the program. We wasted a LOT of time and money and wouldn't touch this program if we were paid.

I must agree with the last post. Blue Crystal Software is ok for a small business. Anyone who is looking basically at the pet industry as more of a hobby it would work for. But as we in the business know, the pet industry is no longer just about boarding a dog in a kennel. There is Daycare and speciality Grooming and many different types of pet training and sitting. This program can't really accommodate all of this well. What disappointed me the most is that when I bought it the salesman said that all of these new features were coming out for boarding packages, dog walking etc. Point of Sale features and accounting are extremely basic and standard accounting practices are not in play. Nothing has been done yet and it has been well over a year. The program has potential if the developers can get it together and keep pace. As of now, I have to say that I really cannot recommend this to anyone other than those who have smaller operations.

The Blue Crystal Software Kennel Connection program is not bad for running a small operation but KC has not kept up with the trends of the industry. If you're just boarding or grooming a few dogs or have a small daycare business, it will work for you. But if we're talking 100+ dogs a day in daycare or 100+ dogs boarding in a given weekend, this program migt not be for you. Look at other options if you're thinking big and looking long-term. Like I said, for small operations it's just fine. But in larger operations KC makes you change your business plan rather than the program keeping up with how the industry has changed. We have come to a point in our business that we are making the switch to another program whose developers know the pet industry.

Although the Blue Crystal Software Kennel Connection does allow you to do a variety of things, the steps involved can be cumbersome and time consuming. It is very flexible in that it allows for many different scenarios. Since how each daycare does business is so different. This is a major plus. It also allows to make changes on corrections on invoice which is vital during the learning process. There is no instruction manual and the online resource is useless. It provides rudimentary info at most. Plus, the service department is terrible. There is much that can be done to make the software more user friendly.

Kennel Connection has potential but the company is not proactive and very poor at reacting. If you are an experienced kennel operator, some of the functions do not make sense. If you are a small kennel, 10 runs or less, this software may be for you if you don't mind your clients waiting around upon checking in our out - or spending more time on the phone as you try to make a booking.

If you are having that many problems, then it sounds like you need to learn how to use the program better or get someone to look at your system setup.

We've been using it for a while now and haven't had any issues after we got our network fixed and our commission reports are just fine as well. We had issues at first with RTE errors but it turned out to be our network. We had a network engineer come in and redo everything and now it works great! It turns out we had settings wrong and our network was going to sleep, causing a momentary loss to our main computer which caused all the errors. If you are having that many issues, you might want to get a certified professional network engineer to look at your setup, we originally had a friend set it up, but it turns out he didn't know what he was really doing for a business setting. Good luck!
