Have had this insurance for 4 years and never claimed before. Recently my cat had a skin conditions, which needed several anti-biotic injections, investigations and biopsy. Phoned for a claim form and spoke to pleasant lady who sent me a form which I received the next day. Phoned today to see if my claim was going through and told I would receive a cheque within the next couple of weeks. I have a continuation claim for this condition, which my vet will be sending to them shortly. Hope it's as easy. Did have to pay excess plus 20% of the claim, but I knew that. Good so far.

We made our first claim 2 years ago for our springer which went through fine but felt the excess was a little steep for such a small claim. I remember shopping around at the time comparing Healthy pets to a few other insurers but actually they are quite competitive for the cover they offer. Still we started to consider dropping the expense and not having pet insurance all together but forgot to make the call. Thank god we didn't as our cat recently needed some very expensive surgery and without cover we could have never of afforded it. Almost fainted when I saw the bill lol! Thankfully the claim went through fine, extremely relived. Mixed feelings about pet insurance in general but glad we have it in place.

Not too pleased that my premiums have risen but then again I think all pet insurance companies have. We have two dogs insured with Healthy pets (gold plan) and to be fair they have always been really good with us. The last time we claimed was for a serious operation on Basil that we simply could not have afforded without insurance. So in that respect we are thankful to Healthy pets for being understanding on the phone and paying out quickly after the claim was made.

10x better than my last insurer who consistently disputed any claim that we made for Missy. Healthy pets on the other hand paid out straight away when we had to claim for a lump to be removed. Fantastic!

Made our first claim 2 weeks ago and went through fine, our premiums have risen recently mind. We can't find anywhere cheaper though, so we will stay with Healthy pets.

Cloe our 6 year old Labrador needed a fair amount of treatment after she got herself caught on a fence. I wasn't going to insure her at first but was glad I did when a bill for £400 came in. We have been with Healthy pets for a few years now and have had no problems since joining them. I wouldn't describe the customer service as friendly but they dealt with the claim quick enough.

We recently had to make a claim for an operation when Kenny's leg got caught in barbed wire. The operation went well and Healthy pets sorted it out with the vet directly. Took some time to get through on the phone tho. Overall we are happy with the service that Healthy pets has provided us with.

I have had my 3 dogs through healthy pets for 2.5 years now. I've made two claims, one for one of my dogs operation was paid directly to the vet and handled very well and paid quickly. The other claim was for a third party claim involving one of my dogs and it took them over 6 months to pay out and they only did pay out after I chassed them really hard. They are a good company and good value for money but they seem to find it more difficult to deal with the more complex claims. The MD is also really bad at returning emails or phone calls! I will stay with them as they did pay out both times and offer good rates compared with the other pet insurance companies.

Likewise, I was a bit shocked when I recently received the renewal quote too so I rang them up to see what's going on. They said a lot of pet insurance companies have had to increase their premiums at the moment to cover the rise in vets fees. I also asked whether I would be entitled to a discount as I have not made a claim but apparently pet insurance doesn't work like car insurance. I checked around and found that their prices are still pretty good in comparison to other pet insurers. Obviously I am not completely happy but at least they were decent enough to go through it with me.

Just made our first pet insurance claim through Healthy pets and all went well. The staff helped us throughout the process. Nothing to moan about so far. We will be insuring our newest dog with them shortly. Mike

I just had to make my first ever pet insurance claim for old poorly Jasper. It was easy to get through to Healthy pets and they settled with the vet directly. I thought it would be allot harder then what it was. Healthy pets were friendly, efficient and good value for money. Cant really ask for more from pet insurance! Many thanks. Toby

I have had to make a number of trips to vet with poor Jake since he was diagnosed with hip dysplasia late last year. He has always been insured with Healthy pets but we have never had to use of it until now. It was easy enough to make the claim and from my experience can recommend them for good dog insurance. tm

I recently heard of someone having an issue with Healthy Pets, but in my experience this is not the case. Since 2008 I have had to make 3 separate claims, each of which has been sent out and processed quickly. The staff were also helpful in explaining to me how about to make the first initial claim, which to start with I found confusing. Good experiences all round, so far...

I have claimed numerous times since our 3 year old black lab was diagnosed with hip dysplasia early last year. Although they are no means the cheapest insurer l am quite impressed with the level of service that I received. Prompt payment, can only recommend them.

I've insured my three springer spaniels for last 4 years with Healthy Pets. I've claimed a number of times for each of them at one time or another, each time the payment has been refunded with in three weeks, given that it would be reasonable for the vet to send the claim form back a few days to a week after the procedure, that would translate to a little over two weeks turn around time.
Healthy pets do offer to pay the vet direct, but I know that some insurance companies are slow at paying out to vets, so to avoid the embarrassment of being caught in the middle between vet and insurance we pay the out standing balance and claim it back.
To date we have claimed for.
Gastric Enteritis.
Cruciate Ligament repair with on going follow up treatment.
Broken canine tooth requiring root canal work and cap.
Removal of a fatty lump for analysis.
Cut tail with infection.
And numerous cuts and scrapes, stitches and torn pads on their feet.
In every case one call to Healthy pets resulted in a claim form arriving the next day in first class post.
Staff on the phone have always been pleasant, courteous and knowledgeable when I've called with a query.
Their web site which can be found at www.healthy-pets.co.uk is well laid out and easy to navigate, the quote process is quick and straightforward, and policy well written and relatively easy to understand.
The business is web based, and I've already said, only deals with pet insurance, don't expect a glossy brochure, value for money is the order of the day, sop glossy brochures are out to keep costs low.
Three levels of cover are provided for those on a budget, and on going treatment is standard on all levels of cover.
As a dog rescue co ordinator, I'm happy to recommend Healthy Pets to any one who re homes a dog off me.
All in all I'm very pleased with the service I've received over the years.

An update to Healthy pets insurance is in order now.

<br/>I've heard a lot of people complaining about very high renewal rates with Healthy Pets, unfortunately in my case this has been borne out, I've just received my renewal, it has gone from £420.00 and a £50.00 excess per claim a year for three dogs to over £1000.00 and a £75.00 + 25% per claim per year, the explanation when I phoned was that Healthy Pets have had rises hoisted on them by their underwriters.

<br/>They didn't seem bothered at all that I was a loyal customer or that I'd put a lot of business their way through dogs I've re-homed over the last four years.

<br/>By shopping around I've managed to get the same cover with a £65 excess fee per claim for £468.00 a year with Churchill insurance.

<br/>Any one looking for pet insurance should ensure that the cover provides for ongoing vet fee's should an ailment turn in to a life long condition, that way as long as you carry on paying the premium you will still be covered, cheaper policies only cover conditions for a year leaving you with out cover in subsequent years.

Healthy Pets paperwork arrived quickly. My puppy had an accident shortly after taking out the insurance, and they paid out promptly and efficiently, especially as the claim was for over £1000!! I strongly recommend this company to insure your pet. They are the cheapest available on the internet, and also provide the best cover. Excellent!!!! Excellent service, communications, and peace of mind.
