Okay, so I bought this on a whim today, having dyed my hair previously several times and considering myself quite the expert at home dying. It was a good price and the colour looked good - I went for the light brown. I went home and did everything the box said, was weirded out by the purple dye which went the shade of prawn cocktail, and finally on my head went ginger at the top but left most of my hair pretty much the same colour it was before (black) and a bit streaky with light brown in.
It smelt lovely and the conditioner is amazing, but it doesn't do what it says. If it was more even and less ginger (yes, I'm ginger!) I would be very happy.
Will have to buy myself a box of trusty Schwartzkopf before anyone I know sees me!

This did not cover my grey hair which was the whole point of colouring my hair. It very smooth now but I would not reccomend this product as it does not do what it is supposed to!

I bought the Boots Botanic terracotta colour in the permanent range because I always thought terracotta was a coppery brown colour. The colour on the box was a bit misleading, I couldn't really tell what it was supposed to be. Oh well, let's give it a try. The colour actually turned out to be was way, way darker with purple and red tones in it, a completely bizarre colour! It wasn't unpleasant but it was a bit of a shock to the system, especially as the box colour is much lighter. Anyway for weeks afterwards my bathwater was filthy because the dye kept washing out, even though I'd washed it clear the first time, and it gradually turned into a ginger colour. It's not very durable.
The dyes in the other range with the white box are much better. They stay true and the colour actually resembles the colour on the box.

If you die your hair from very dark/black, it will never come out the right colour. Going lighter on darker hair will nearly always go gingery the first time. Its best to either have it done professionally or remove colour from your hair and then apply the colour you want. But yeah Schwartzkopf is SO good!
