“As with all Tefal steam irons, this Pressing Profile...”

★★★★★

written by marti winston on 06/07/2006

As with all Tefal steam irons, this Pressing Profile 2850/2860 is an excellent choice.
It gives off 70 grams of steam per minute which is enough to get out most wrinkles.
It has 3 bars of pressure too.
It also has the steam pressure trigger under the handle for index finger use.
I find this much easier to use than the thumb triggers on the top of the handles.
A very good, powerful iron.
I love this iron. I have been ironing with it professionally for over 4 years.
I can iron 1 adult button down shirt in under 3 minutes with this iron.
It only has a few drawbacks which I can see.
1. Within the first month of use, the cloth material which covers the hose shrunk.
This exposed the hose and I kept getting burned!
I went to the service department and was told a new covering was not covered under the warranty and I would need to purchase a totally new set of hoses.
Cost:$60.00 US
Too much for my taste since I received this iron as a gift.
So I just wrapped a lot of duct tape around it to protect myself from burns.
It isn't pretty but it's functional.
2. The pressure cap to the water tank gets very hot and this causes it to tighten itself.
It is extremely difficult to loosen it as there is no real way to get a good grip on the cap to unscrew it.
Also, after a few drops on the floor, the plastic housing of the cap that covers the bolt cracks off.
The only alternative at this point is to use a wrench every time you want to open and close the tank (when you re-fill the water) or buying a new cap.
A new cap costs approximately $50.00 US.
Mine broke within the first 12 months and the company mailed me out a replacement for free.
A year later when it happened again, they told me it was not covered but they sent me another one for free!
This is a terrific company!
A year later when it happened again they told me I would have to pay for a new one.
Understandable but it is a defect in the way it was built.
Other than these few faults, I cannot see any major problems with this iron.
The good outweighs the bad tremendously.
I highly recommend this iron!
It has served me well.
