purchased some chairs. No response, then an email from 'James' saying he was just putting them on the van when I asked to cancel the order. Very strange. Then no more correspondence. Phone number does not work.

Avoid!!!!!! Writing to credit card company to get refund.

placed an order, got a little suspicious, called no answer, no response to email. i quickly cancelled my credit card so at least i have not lost any money. please do not place an order with this company. if you want to check try and phone them and the line is dead. its terrible these companies exist.

Oh dear. I fell into the same trap. I found the website and sent an email query about an item, heard nothing, placed the order anyway (silly me), eventually an email back which reassured me, and went ahead with the order.

The item then didn't arrive, and my subsequent messages (phone, email) were ignored. Eventually I reached someone in NYC and asked if there was any number I could actually reach someone on other than this call centre with whom I'd already left messages to no avail (answer: no). I asked for details about the company (strangely I already had an instint that there was something wrong with the company) and if my request could be escalated so I could find out what is happening. Eventually I received an email to say that my order had been cancelled as I was "too threatening"! I have yet to check whether my card was charged, but I really hope not as I could do without wasting any more time on them.

Anyway, in a nutshell, they are clearly fraudulent (their previous guise was Cohen & Christopher - google it and it brings up a Guardian article), and I've been told they pass of china-made furniture as Italian.

In the end I used designicons.co.uk, who were marvellous.

These people are ether negligent or fraudulent. I received a chair from them which broke without any possibility of repair the first time anyone sat on it. Although the managing director assured me he would replace it, I then heard nothing more from him and am now forced to sue him in the small claims court. This is a terrible waste of time, and I still don't have an operational chair.

These people are not the kind you should give your custom.

they wont answer any email. you can wait your order for 3 months when they say 6 weeks. bad bad bad. dont recommend

They took payment for items and said they were in stock.....turns out they are not...and then they are impossible to contact and evasive about refunds.

Please save yourself time and money and avoid dealing with these crooks!

Buyer beware! Please be advised that this SAME company is scamming consumers in the U.S. as modernreproductions.com. ostensibly based in NYC. Your card is then charged in the UK and the merchandise never arrives. They stall for time with mdse not in stock yet excuses until it becomes very difficult to get the money back from the credit card company. Any "positive reviews" you are likely yo find tend to have similar phrasing and are simply the company's attempt to keep the suckers coming. It's been a year and we're still out US$410 for a chair.

jmc furnitur trading and classics in stock and modern reproductions are re all not worth the money you send them.

they take the money and never delivery and when refunds are asked for they stop responding completely.

Keep fighting if you are awaiting a refund - we made the mistake of paying JMC Furniture by bank transfer but finally after 6 months of battling with them we have received our refund.
