bought this one in red to go with my kitchen ,what a big mistake .Had trouble with the oven from day one ,every time some one came to see to it said nothing wrong with it Oven goes off after its been lit or when you are cooking .Cost a fortune having to chuck meat out .At the minute we are saving for a new cooker .So in the mean while have to sit and watch cooker in case it goes off what a waste of £650 down the drain ,only paid that thinking it would last us out. Looks nice shame it did not work .Wish i had read reviews

“Leisure Gourmet 60 Gas”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Aine1 on 11/04/2017

I concur with most of the other reviews. I went for this cooker 3 years ago,not for looks, but because I wanted a gas oven and grill that incorporated a timer. This combination proved difficult to buy. I have had nothing but trouble with it since purchase. Within the warranty period the grill was not heating up sufficiently. We had it repaired and after the warranty ran out the fan stopped working properly. . To repair it would cost nearly half the price of new cooker. The knobs which I thought were metal were plastic covered by some kind of foil to simulate metal. They have since melted and burnt black and now the timer has now ceased working. I think that it is the greatest heap of rubbish on the market purporting to be a cooker and would strongly advise purchasers to steer well clear.

“Utter rubbish”

★☆☆☆☆

written by trackylou1 on 24/09/2016

I have had this cooker now for 3 years and like another reviewer am currently saving up to buy a decent cooker. I too went for looks over functionality but never again. Like others on here I can't get the grill to stay alight, can only achieve this by wedging a table spoon between control nob and chrome grab handle...bad. The oven temps are difficult to regulate, gas mark 4 in the recipe is gas mark 7 on this thing. I can't believe these are still being sold unless the obvious design faults have been ironed out. DO NOT BUY.

“Awful cooker Leisure Gourmet gas cooker”

★☆☆☆☆

written by GuillermoMiranda143 on 03/04/2016

I purchased this cooker in 2013, it has never functioned correctly , the ignition for the main oven keeps clicking and won't come out of ignition mode, the ignition switch was not fit for purpose from day one, engineer came but came back with the wrong part, took us a while to phone them back to repair I'm sure they just think that you can take time off work at will, this would have been the 3rd day off, by then the warranty had expired, leisure knowing that the item is faulty before the warranty expired wash there hands of it and are disinterested. I have cut my fingers on the metal around the knobs as it is so sharp, they also heat up to such an extent when the cooker is on you have to remember this as I have burnt myself on a couple occasions. The oven is at present is not useable. Given that he interest from the company it is any wonder that they make such a poor and inferior product. Buyer be aware. The screws for the curved back plate were not in the packaging I asked for the screws to fit they have never been sent. Cooker is attractive

“Grill repaired, repaired &repaired again!!!!!!”

★☆☆☆☆

written by 483Holder on 24/10/2015

Bought this Leisure Gourmet GR6GV-MK11 Gas cooker from a gas shop in Burnley 3 years ago(closed down now)however I have been saving for a new cooker ever since. Felt the Wow factor as soon as we saw it, so old fashioned looking yet small enough for the traditional small kitchen with no room for a double stove. Grill never worked from new, but came and repaired it, it stopped working 2 days later and came to repair again such an hassle having to take time of work for repairs. The grills never worked since... It will light by match but I have to use something to wedge between the grill nobK and the chrome grill handle bar for it to stay on. The ball helps but you can't regulate the heat as it has to stay in one position or the ball falls out (good tip for ya!). I am so embarrassed when visitors turn up for burnt bacon butties as I have to explain the tennis ball routine and assure them that I haven't gone senile. I am looking for a new cooker now but won't go for looks again.

“Dreadful and dangerous cooker. Avoid.”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Jevban on 03/09/2015

I have had this cooker just under 3 years and it is dangerous and very poor quality. I have had numerous repairs and currently, waiting for another repair as 2 months after the cooker element failed and was replaced, it has now blown my sockets and fuseboard. Deadly, dangerous thing that I wasted almost £500 on. Avoid at all costs. Leisure when I previously spoke with them were disinterested and the last major repair that saw the complete hob replaced, the retailer, all but washed their hands of the thing. My previous cooker. A Creda, was 15 years old and went to someone as a freebie. It's still going strong!

“Overpriced underperforming Costly”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Corinne115 on 14/08/2015

I will be taking steps this week to invoke a no nonsense replacement or cash back taken out when purchased. The comments in this review stream are all what I have experienced. Bottom main over takes ages to get going, never seems to get up to temperature with food taking twice as long at least to cook than our old cheaper model. Top oven fan is a pain, why is it constantly on when grilling food it only serves to heat up the kitchen. You have to hold the ignition switch for ages for the burners and the grill, its a pain when it goes off, its trial and error for the grill. since the whole point of this unit is to heat food the rest of the review e.g. ease of use is in my opinion irrelevant. In summary its a very poor performing but good looking unit. Time to go.

“worst oven ive ever used!!”

★☆☆☆☆

written by pulvil29 on 19/04/2015

having been used to an electric oven and previously a gas oven we were well used to cooking on either... This oven though has very very poor regulation of temperature and this appears to not be a mechanical fault, some days it cooks fine but generally I find it to not cook at the required temperature, a roast chicken takes 4 hours!!..simple fish cakes take an hour!. I shall be buying another cooker quite soon.. I wish I had read reviews before purchasing this piece of worthless junk.

“HORRIFIC”

★☆☆☆☆

written by zrMcDowell259 on 22/01/2015

Almost everything about this tinny excuse for a cooker is what is wrong with it. Grill/oven won't stay alight if it gets too hot!!!!!! So, trying to use both ovens is so frustrating it's just not worth it. I could list so many things I would be here all day. The latest, 4 mins ago, has me in despair, the igniter button has gone inside somewhere. It also has dreadful little grooves/assembly joins which are extremely difficult to keep grease free. Suggest you get a camping stove before this one. It's got to GO.....

“A complete let down”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 01/01/2015

I have previously owned a leisure range single oven for 12 years, a lovely cooker and no issues what so ever, so when it needed to be replaced we decided to stick to what we knew and had been happy with. This new model is over priced, looks good but lacks in ability, the grill is a waste of time and lights when it wants to, stays lit if it wants to and the grill bars themselves are not much bigger than that of a camping stove, the oven does not maintain the correct heat setting and food is either undercooked based on the recommended setting or turning it up to cook food and burning it, considering the experience we have had with this range of cooker the 'one' and only element we like is the look, I am not a materialistic person and had I have been sure I was buying good quality I would not have minded what I brought, we just thought we could trust from our own experience.

I own this cooker and have no problems what so ever. It always heats up promptly and reaches the correct temperature. The cooker has a safety cut off feature so if you shut the door on the grill when it's still lit it will go off. As long as you know this then you shouldn't encounter any problems. I'm 100% happy with my cooker. It looks fantastic in the kitchen and everyone who comes round comments on it. In short I think it's brill. I even got a free gridle which fits onto the hob. Good value and I believe this cooker will serve me well for many years.

“Looks Over Substance”

★★☆☆☆

written by lisaroberts on 19/11/2014

I have had this cooker for a few years now, I too loved the look of it and thought Leisure was a good name. I noticed straight away that it wasn't as hot as my old cooker and I had to turn up the temperature to get anything cooked. I had an engineer out because I thought it was faulty, he changed a part but it was still the same afterwards. The grill was the same, low temperature. The grill hasn't worked for over a year now, I had to buy a toaster!! It lights and comes on when you hold the nob down, but as soon as you let it go, it goes off. On the odd occasion when I crave cheese on toast I actually sit on the floor holding the nob down until it finally melts some cheese! Also the top oven often goes out on it's own while cooking and you don't notice until you go to check progress that it's still uncooked/raw. I think I'm just going to get rid of it now and look for a new cooker. Obviously keeping away from Leisure ones. It's such a shame as it looks lovely in my kitchen.

“Not Fit for Purpose”

★☆☆☆☆

written by modplod on 06/10/2014

Having purchased the Leisure Gourmet Classic Double Oven Model No: GR6GB/MK2 in 2010, this cooker now requires a 4th visit from a Gas Engineer (under THE DOMESTIC AND GENERAL INSURANCE POLICY purchased at the same time as the cooker, THANKFULLY) to remedy the same fault on the Grill. I like many others who have PURCHASED THIS RUBBISH APPLIANCE, are left with a piece of useless junk that is clearly NOT FIT FOR PURPOSE and would be better made into Pie Dishes to contain the large amount of Takeaways that my family and I have had to eat, because this Cooker is useless and in my opinion dangerous. Leisure the Manufacturer, should be ashamed for allowing this junk to be let loose on the British Public, I for my part will be writing to not only Leisure to see if they can be bothered to do anything about it and additionally to the Gas Safety Council, who obviously Approved this Piece of Junk. I hope Leisure see this Review Posting and also hope that anyone considering buying a New Cooker, will steer clear of this junk or any other Appliance Manufactured by this Company or any other Brand Name that is Associated with them.

Mendez's Response to modplod's Review

I have written to the manufacturer regarding several things wrong with this appliance ( Bad grill, fan coming on in top oven even when not alight, igniters having to be held in etc) but they would not even take the time to respond so it would appear they aren't even interested in customer care. Steer clear!

I also have written to BEKO's CEO, and have received the usual Corporate Claptrap from them. I am getting the Cooker repaired under the Insurance which was purchased when the cooker was, but I have not ruled out writing to the Safety Regulators as we have all been informed of other BEKO Appliances catching Fire etc, and I know feel that this Company needs to be made to ensure that their Products are Safe and Fit for Purpose as I have been informed that the Gas Safety Device is Faulty which is fitted to turn the Gas Supply off if the flame goes out and seeing that my Cooker is seldom used and is to quote the Engineer 'In Show Room Condition' then there is something seriously wrong and has been since it was Purchased 39 Months ago. I will also be writing to my Insurance Company when the Cooker is repaired to ascertain if they are willing to renew my Policy when it expires and how much they will 'Load the Premium'. WATCH THIS SPACE as I WILL UPDATE ACCORDINGLY.

“Dangerous!!!!!”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Starvingfemale on 21/09/2014

Long story short. Switched on main oven, ignition kept clicking away but oven was lite. After a minute clicking faded. Fine I thought, opened the oven door, flames going mad, switched it all off but gas still coming from the oven!!!! Scared to death, I ran and switched off the gas supply to the house, called emergency gas, they arrived and disconnected the cooker. Rang Leisure, they sent a sub contractor who said 3 parts faulty, said he would order them, after a week rang Leisure, they didn't know what I was talking about! Several call later to Leisure (also known as Beco) Finally was told I would get a call back. They have now left me a messenger to say Leisure will fix the cooker (as a guesture of good will!) To summarise; extremely dangerous situation, gas coming from cooker after it was switched off, no one seems to want to take responsibility, after well over a week, I get a message to say it will be fixed as guesture of good will - "No sorry for putting your life in danger, just "as a guesture of good will" feel llike telling them I'm refusing there guesture and tell them to stick it where the sun doesn't shine! My family and I have not had a cooked meal for over a week - not on a great wage so can't afford to eat out! Sick and tired of salad and sandwiches and feel very let down by Leisures response. All in all - A LOAD OF RUBBISH

“Bad news.”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Rogerb1969 on 05/08/2014

I purchased this cooker 3 years ago and it has been nothing but trouble. After 8 months the gas controls chrome tape started to peel off I asked for new ones but they only had white plastic ones. Then after 18 months the grill would not light and one of the top rings. I had it fixed and now it wont light again. These cookers look great and they are more expensive than the average cooker but they are a load of rubbish. I would advise any body not to buy one.

“Utter rubbish”

★☆☆☆☆

written by philipus on 31/07/2014

I had to wait several years before I could afford a replacement and I had the great mis-fortune of picking this rubbish. Although the oven gets to temperature it doesn't hold it. Cooking anything can take at least twice as long as it should. It is impossible to cook a joint and roast potatoes or even to roast a chicken on its own in any time that would be considered normal. Given that it takes so long I would consider it a health risk from salmonella or worse. Stay away from any company that sells this junk.

“Worst cooker ever”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Specialistdiabetesnurse on 30/06/2014

Bought this cooker for my new kitchen, trouble with top oven, had guy out on numerous occasions, just never worked. Now the grill won't work, will occasionally stay on after five attempts of igniting. Nightmare at Christmas or when entertaining, never enough working to cook properly, I will have to change it, could kick myself because the one I discarded worked fine, learnt my lesson big style, total waste of money.

“Looks good and thats as far as it goes!”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 14/06/2014

Bought this cooker in 2014 and was very impressed with the build and looks but once it was installed we realised what a duff piece of kitchen ware this is. The fan in the top oven/grill comes on as soon as the door is opened - WHY! The oven will go out on occasions if it feels like it. The grill has just two settings, you can either have it on or off there is no variation. The grill igniter is sited at the front of the oven space - ideally placed for hitting with the grill pan when being inserted. The handle for the grill pan is one of the most flimsy contraptions ever seen. The rail which one supposes is there for oven gloves to hang on is in exactly the right place to obscure from sight the knobs and therefore their setting. Compared to our old (no longer in production) cooker this rates less than a one star.

I purchased this oven in 2012! I loved the look of it, but it does not live up to expectations, the top oven takes for ever to ignite and then it goes out, and it is the worst cooker I have ever had to clean out. the back panel on the hob has gone white and won't come off I don't recommend this cooker at all

I have the Leisure Gourmet Classic. When I open the door to the top oven/grill this set the fan on even though the over/grill is not in use. Should the fan not go on when it reaches a certain temperature, at the moment I takes forever to grill anything as the fan does not allow it to get hot enough and toast come out dry rather than toast. It also means that if the door is left open the fan continues to run. Is there a fault with my cooker?

This is something I wrote to the manufacturers about but received no reply. After some research it appears that the reason for the fan to be on whenever the door is opened is so that the plastic k.n.o.b.s won't have the chrome peel due to heat - even when the grill is not alight. Short answer is - there is nothing wrong with your cooker per se, it's simply the way it has been designed (badly)and as for your toast the only solution is to do what we had to do and that is to go and buy a toaster.

Select required heat setting, ignite oven and leave the oven door open until the flames rise (both seen and heard) then close the door.

All I can say is turn the *button to the required gas mark and push it in and hold until it ignites and then continue to hold for a few more seconds to ensure it remains alight - but then you probably know that already! *Wanted to use the word **b (spelt wrongly cos it need a (k) in front)which it is but apparently according to the jobsworths running this site it is non - pc. Check Collins English Dictionary

I have also now got the Oven and Grill not lighting as it should. My cooker has been described by the Engineer as being 'Show Room Condition' so I doubt that having it Professionally cleaned has anything to do with your problem. My Cooker is needing the Thermal Couplings, Gas Safety Device and Ignition Componants renewed, this should take place hopefully, within the next few days, however it is worth noting that when the Engineer visited last week he Condemned the Cooker as Unsafe and made me Sign a Declaration 'NOT TO USE THE COOKER' in any way which also included the Hob until the Repairs and obligatory Gas Safety Tests have been fulfilled. My advice would be, to have the Cooker completely checked by a Qualified Gas Engineer before it is used by you or your family for the obvious reasons. As a Retired Police Officer of many years service, I have seen the effects of Gas Explosions and beleive me they are devastating and tradgically they have had drastic results. It is obvious that this Manufacturer is in 'Self Denial' and if they are minded to Sue me, I am more than happy to accomodate them, as I said before, as an Ex Police Officer the Courts do not frighten me nor do High Paid Lawyers in Cheap Suits. Any Reputable Gas Engineer, who inspects your Cooker is duty bound by Law to advise you to make good any repairs by a Fully Qualified and Certified Gas Engineer, they are also Duty Bound to inform you NOT to use the Gas Appliance until the obligatory repairs have been done and the obligatory safety tests are carried out. If you use the Cooker against advice from a Qualified Gas Engineer then You are breaking the law.

Hold the gas mark projection (previously known as a [(k)(n)(o)(b)] in until ignition takes place and continue to hold. The top oven is a different matter as it is a pain in the rear end. Reason for brackets jobsworths on this site won't allow correct terminology due to pc brigade.
