Afi Has Been Around A Long Time. People My Age Hav
AFI has been around a long time. People my age haven't even be alive long enough to be able to truly say 'I've been with them since day one'. And that shouldn't matter. Most 'Hardcore' AFI fans were not impressed with this album. I thought it was beautiful. Different from anything they have ever done. But beautiful.
They matured so much since Very Proud of Ya. Whether you like this album or not, you cannot deny that. And I believe this maturity was a good thing. Don't get me wrong, I love the old screamo punk thing they've had going for many years. I fell in love with it a couple years ago and have never been able to quit listening. But I view this album as growth, and it shows AFI branching out, which so many punk bands are never willing to do.
This is a great album for new AFI fans, it's not as hardcore and a little easier to listen to until you're ready for the older 'classics' (Such as Perfect Fit, Days of the Phoeonix, No Poetic Device, etc.). And it's still great for those fans who can't live without the screaming (e.g. Dancing Through Sunday, Death of Seasons, The Leaving Song Part ll, etc)
This is a very emotional album and I love it. I would reccomend it to anyone with an open mind. I love every little bit of it (yes, even that newly developed infamous Davey 'Oh').
