Gretna Green, Smiths hotel

They are asking £3000 for a Penthouse Wedding there when the Penthouse is level with the motorway. You could literally reach out and knock on the car windows its that close. We drove for 5 hours to go and look at the place with a view to getting married there and not once were we told its on the motorway, its the most expensive motorway service station I ever saw. Its shocking. Please put the post code into google earth or a satellite map function before you go. I am still raging that they never mentioned this! Gretna Green is a dump anyway. I had to drive through the gorgeous Lakes to get there, so if you fancy a nice place to get married try the lakes.

Location was good only 10 miles to Carlisle. Considering this hotel is supposed to be 4 star I found it expensive considering the lack of amenities.

Overall, we had a pleasant stay at the Smiths Hotel in Gretna Green, even though the restaurant would need a more forceful manager to keep the staff in check.
