Ate in the cafe downstairs as upstairs was a long wait.
From the very first the service was superb,
friendly and quick without being in your face.
Food was great value, I had the steak cooked rare
And it was lovely, just right. Really would recommend this
Place for great staff, good value and nice food.

My partner and I visited 55 degrees north on Wednesday 17th June 09. We had not made a reservation and expected to be turned away, however we were told that we could be accomodated if we were prepared to wait 10 minutes. We sat and chilled out by the bar with a drink until a table was available, we didn't wait long. We seen the menu from outside earlier in the day and thought the prices were maybe a little on the high side but I was prepared to pay more as I was going to propose to my girlfirend if everything went well on the night. As we sat down for our meal we could see the amazing view of the atlantic ocean and the antrim coastline which set the tone for the night. We both opted for the main course of duck with a plum glaze was absolutely out if this world, a taste sensation and the portions are generous too. The wide choice of desserts were very tempting but after much deliberation we decided on the mint aero cheesecake, again, top drawer food. We decided to settle the bill and the owner later came to us and said we hadn't given them enough! On double checking, it seems I had got my 10's and 20's mixed up, what a donut! We apologised profusely but she was very understanding and realised it was an easy mistake to make. When we cleared that up we asked if we could have a drink nearer to the window and get an even better view of the ocean, they obliged. Everything from the welcome we received, to the food and the drink had been awesome, I decided to propose to my girlfriend of 10 years ( I know, about time too!) and she said yes! We again apologised to the owner for the earlier mistake with the money and also mentioned the proposal. The staff we really happy for us and gave us a bottle of bubbly to share even though they looked like they were about to close for the night, they took photos for us and were attentive to our every need. We were treated so well and we would like to say a massive thank you to all the staff, you are a credit to your profession.
