I am very satisfied with this camera, while some say its a little bulky it fits comfotably into my have and I find it easier the hold than the flat type it also has a viewfinder as well as an LCD, great on very sunny days. Battery life can be a problem but you must use re-chargeable Nickle Cadmium batteries as all others are not up to the job. I like it so much I have just bought another on ebay, great value for money I'd say.

“My wife gave me the Samsung Digimax A7 in 2006 for...”

written by Rick Hardesty on 28/10/2009

My wife gave me the Samsung Digimax A7 in 2006 for Christmas. I finally determined that one of the batteries was bad. She had bought it at Sears and they did not have batteries for the camera. They offered no assistance. We had purchased an extended warranty which proved to be worthless. I recently tried to purchase a pair of Samsung SNB-2312 replacement batteries from the Partstore and they had been discontinued. Partstore wanted $45.00 for the discontinued SNB-2312 batteries and could only say a possible substitute would be $65.00. Plus they never notified me that the order was canceled. The Samsung Digimax battery situation is a total disaster and Samsung should have a recall on this camera. There is no support for the camera from Samsung. I am looking for a good lithium battery camera to replace this poor representation of a digital camera system from Samsung. Note that the required batteries are 1.2 volt and 2300mAh that nobody makes including Samsung. Makes a lot of sense!!!! Rick H>

I gave this camera a try before and I was quite disappointed. The UI was quite simple to use but the picture quality is not high. To top it all the battery usage was very very poor. I could only use it with 3-5 picture shots and it was dead.
Maybe Samsung still needed to improve in this area of their business.

Upon purchase of the A7 i was impressed all round with its performance. After a year the battery life deteriorated. 5 pictures for new batteries. I changed type and even tried rechargeable ones. Not even the new Energizer lithium range can improve things. I bought my girlfriend the A4 previously and it is 10 times the camera the A7 is. I am majorly disappointed with this product.

I bought my Samsung Digimax A7 in June 06 in an Argos sale. The camera was easy to set up and I like the large viewer. A little bulky for carrying around, I have had some good photos off the camera
on auto. Straight lines are a problem on auto but okay if use manual function. Clear viewing. Easy menu change. If you can remember all the functions.

I like the look of the digimax a7 that's all. I have never taken it outside, testing it in house only, as the battery die when it was time to go out side, 2500 mah and with flash on 3 picture later battery dead, what a joke, sent it back to samsung they said nothing was wrong with it you need stronger batt, so with even higher mah batt can take 6 with flash not good.

written by shell77 on 26/05/2009

I bought my samsung digimax A7 in june 06 from argos and was delighted with it for the first few months. The picture quality was fantastic and it was easy to use. Then the battery life seemed to get lower and lower and they became alot more expensive. I spent a fortune on rechargeable batteries, none of which worked at all and after going in every camera shop i could find to ask about the AC adapter no-one knew what i was talking about. Mine doesn't work at all now. If you can afford to buy a camera every two years go for it, if not do your research. I wish I had.

Bought the Samsung Digimax A7 version as a replacement for my old A6
Takes great clear pictures, Put it the test to see what it could do, nicely impressed
Although somewhat bulky compared to the cameras nowadays, this is a definite bonus when I want to take pictures at night with a long exposure
Some have mentioned the battery life, Using a new 256Mb SD card + new/charged 2650mA/h batteries, ran out of memory (approx 96 pics), batteries showed no signs of dying.

I have had this samsung digimax camera for just over a year , and it really is the worst bit of kit I have ever owned. It runs out batteries every 5 seconds. It has poor picture quality, and is just a general piece of junk. I am one of those people, that never complains about anything, so you know I feel strongly about this:)

Good camera for its short-lived life. After less than 2 years - even with fresh batteries - Samsung Digimax A7 camera reads low battery and immediately turns off. Tech support says it will cost more to get it fixed than to buy a new camera of equal quality... ... something I can't afford to do so soon after purchasing it.

Bought this product as it ticked all the box's however since having the camera have found it not that user friendly and you have to carry spare batteries all the time as they WILL let you down when you least want them to despite there being near max readings when you take the old ones out and test them.

The battery in the Samsung Digimax A7 camera only lets me take about 10 pictures and when I took it back to Samsung they said that a specific type of battery was needed so i went and bought that and it made no difference so i am not pleased with the product.

I am convinced that some A7`s are faulty as some reviews mention poor battery life and some don't, mine is one of the bad ones. I even sent it to Samsung but they didn`t fix it. Its so bad I can`t take it outside for more than 6 pictures before the battery runs out ( this is with 2700 amh rechargables) and if I use the flash !!!!!!!!!!!

written by riker on 10/02/2007

I bought this camera for £115 from Argos in the end of season sale - it's been dropped from the catalogue since.
I already had a 4 megapixel camera and wanted to upgrade. This is a very good camera for taking photos of family/holidays etc. It connects to my PC via mini usb and I can easily transfer images across. The optical viewfinder is a must because you cannot see the lcd in bright daylight (I think this is a common problem with digital cameras). I wouldn't recommend it if you are a camera buff expecting superb shots in all conditions - it is only a point and shoot compact not an SLR and sometimes the autofocus/exposure can be fooled. Some people might find it a little on the large side these days but I find it easier to hold with a bit of substance to it.
