“Price OK but not service”

★★★☆☆

written by DBurkey on 24/11/2016

Just received my camera and case that was a fairly competitive deal on their part. However, at nearly £7 for postage, I expected a better response when I stayed in all day, as requested in an email, and I discovered it was not down for delivery until 3 days later. I informed the company that I was less-than-happy at wasting that day but they didn't have the courtesy to even reply. I won't use them again as a result of that failure.

“panasonic 20mm/f1.7”

★★★☆☆

written by groman on 17/11/2015

I was looking for decent prices on panasonic 20mm/f1.7 lens , and found the offer from UK Camera store. The price was lower than on Amazon (I do not have paypal and therefore a bit suspicious to use ebay), moreover a couple of filters (UV and polarising) were claimed to be included as a kit. OK, the delivery was very fast (again, I have to mention that delivery fee was not indicated on the site); the lens itself was brand-new factory packed item. The UV filter included as a kit (there was one filter in the original package, the second filter was delivered 2 weeks later separately) was for a different lens size, i.e 67 mm diameter instead of needed 46mm (the second filter also had 67 mm diameter). It was hard to guess/expect that filters enclosed as a kit wouldn't fit the lens. So, in general the seller is OK, but don't get fooled with their extras.

“good price rubbish courier service”

★★★☆☆

written by lyReeves201 on 01/08/2014

Ordered a lens and a filter on a Friday. when nothing arrived on Saturday I emailed them. Heard nothing until Monday when I contacted them by phone. They checked and found the courier firm had sent it to Croydon rather than Coventry. Only then did they gave me a number for the order so I could track it and set up a window for delivery. This didn't work very well - the courier firm eventually emailed me very early in the morning on Tuesday to say the delivery would be some time that morning. When it finally arrived the filter was missing. I emailed them again and they said they would post a replacement - this finally arrived a week later. However everyone was friendly and polite and the price of the stuff was very good. Perhaps they should find another courier service.

“Misleading pricing - beware”

★★★☆☆

written by on 24/06/2014

Have been looking around to purchase a new Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ60 camera and thought I had found a great deal with these guys. However, beware their pricing is misleading! So VAT - included or not included? Good question and the answer is not obvious. Some prices do and some dont - I added items to my cart and at checkout the price had mysteriously increased - the final price is not itemised and it was hard to know where those few extra pounds on the bill have come from. One telephone call later and it turns out that special offer half price battery quoted at £10 actually costs £12! And talking of that half price battery offer at £10 (£12) - its not half price at all. That's the normal price - so its not a special offer either. And then delivery - I ask about delivery and am told its £6.96. But hang on, the total price including delivery doesnt add up again - its yet another few pounds more. Of course they havent pointed out again that its exclusive of VAT. So come on UK Camera Store - what's the deal with citing something as being half price when its not and a special offer when its not! That's a Trading Standards breach. And how difficult is it to be consistent with pricing - if its excluding VAT then say so. I dont like being mislead - I am going to keep looking

“read the conditions”

★★★☆☆

written by on 26/01/2014

Cannot fault Company except THEY BREACH DISTANCE SELLING REGULATIONS BY:- stating faulty goods have to be returned to manufacturer, and they will not commit to paying the costs involved. They also state if you reject the goods on arrival you have the pay the cost of returning which also breaches your legal rights. COME ON UK CAMERA STORE GET THIS SORTED

Yes, I also had problems with the exact interpretation of the DSR with this company. Not only to pay the cost of returning, but also the cost of delivery. A bad review will hurt more than the loss of £10 to me and the gain of the next sale to one of UKCS's competitors.

“Good price but issues”

★★★☆☆

written by dawn5r on 07/03/2013

The overall experience was not great although communication was generally good. My first issue is with the courier dpd who left the camera with a neighbour but nothing was written on the card they left so i had no idea where it was and the tracking number was incorrect. Secondly the SD card was faulty and although a replacement was posted i had to send the faulty one back first at my own expense. Would this have been the case if the camera had been faulty? However, I am very happy with the camera and the free mini tripod.

“Aaaaaaaaaaaaaah!”

★★★☆☆

written by UHAPPY on 17/05/2012

Ordered canon powershot on weds morn ,got it next day before 12,good,but orderd dearest package with sd card and extra battery?.... No battery, this was for my daughters 14th b,day ,she is going to France with school tomorrow with just 1 batt,no use I ordered with the two for this purpose in mind(that she was going on holiday) they put a sticker on the invoice stating they would forward one(no use)and sent me a mini tripod which u can get from the pound store.....WTF!!!!! Iam let down after checking all reviews on camera sellers on the net, hopefully this company will make amends by not just sending us the batt when they have it in stock ,but something else as a sweetener as a £1 tripod does not ease this prob!!!!!!!!

“Looks like customers have had mixed experiences with...”

★★★☆☆

written by on 23/10/2010

Looks like customers have had mixed experiences with this retailer. I waited three weeks for my EOS550D to arrive with the 18-55mm kit lens, camera bag and memory cards but I'm still waiting for the 55-250 zoom lens which should have came as part of the bundle. Despite being shown as 'in stock' on their web site, I am constantly told that it is out of stock because Canon can't keep up with demand. I find this strange considering I could pick one up from Amazon or another retailer today to which I'm then told 'we are a small outfit, we can't hold large stock. Fair enough but please be truthful instead of fobbing off customers. Almost six weeks of waiting, I contacted Canon themselves - I was advised there was more than sufficient stock in the UK! So no idea what on earth this retailer is playing at! To sum it up, a small supplier who prides themselves on low prices (that I certainly can't argue with) but let down by failing to acquire stock to meet customer demand. Use at your own risk - personally I wouldn't use them again.

“I had a similar experience with a pre-sale inquiry,...”

★★★★☆

written by TimCox on 09/12/2007

I had a similar experience with a pre-sale inquiry, but made a purchase anyway. I received my goods within a few days, having made 1 e-mail inquiry to see when delivery would be made (phone calls failed to get through as line always engaged). I received a phone-call reply to my e-mail within a couple of hours. Maybe not as slick as bigger players in the market, but their price for what I wanted was unmatched.

I am looking at a Nikon 18-200m lens, price seems too good to be true which usually means it is, so just wondering if these are grey imports?
