we have used the services of Barrhead travel on a number of occasions. On the only two times we have issues with it, has been with the same agent. although these issues were not massive they did spoil our trips a bit, but on the whole we are very satisfied with the service we had from you and hope to use them again in the future

“Often used Barrhead Travels ”

As soon as we walked into shop we where met .We had some idear to what we needed so did not take long to pick .Paper work was done quick and off we went with our holiday all paid for as we had not long before we where going .Would use the shop again .Was happy with our flat .

do not be mislead by the photos or video as the apartment they gave me when I arrived was shocking I produced photos to the Kilmarnock branch and they were shocked aswell they said barrhead would be in touch ,and now I am writing this ,the 2nd apartment they offered was one that I saw at travel agent and also on youtube much better

“First Cruise”

We were both very happy with the help and experience of the Barrhead people when we were booking that was until we had paid the holiday in full. Paperwork was incomplete, we had to chase information, calls were not returned. We were passed between admin and the cruise centre. I sent an e mail asking specific questions only to eventually receive an e mail reply selling me insurance and currency but no answers to my questions. If the account had been checked it would have been noted we already had this organised by yourselves. Your company never acknowledged receipt of information returned with regards the pre travel details that you required. What would it take to have an auto receipt in place on your e mail system. Information with regards the pre booked excursions were not as transparent as it should have been.We should have been told that these were with private companies and not the cruise line.It was inferred that it was the same excursions just booked in advance. This did make a difference. Wrong sitting for dinner, no acknowledgement we had paid gratuities in advance, and a double bed rather than two singles. As it turned out most things were sorted on board and did run smoothly, with the exception of the excursions. On reflection your staff obviously have confidence in their roles and the product they are selling but to new inexperienced travellers that presented as lack of concern and disinterest once we had paid our money. I would travel again but would not buy any extras in advance.

Lovely ship, amazing itinery great entertainment manager but food not as good and staff not as friendly, and helpfull as usual the standard is dropping and you can see the cut backs went on the celebrity x reflection

“Good customer service”

Good customer service ovetall. However when booking holiday in late January 2015,I was talking to advisor regarding that the holiday was a surprise for my partners Christmas and his 50th birthday next January 2016. The holiday was booked and I thought it was for June 2016 which was excellent as my birthday was that month too . However turned out holiday was booked for June 2015. This was noticed after I was home and shop was closed. Next morning I returned to the shop to be told it would cost me £72 to change dates which unfortunately I could only book up until April of 2016 . This was very disappointing. All in all the holiday was fabulous but still annoyed to be charged the £72 when clearly the advisor wasn't listening to a word I was saying and I had to pay for it.

“Could be better”

Was left very disappointed with the service we received from the trainee travel agent, who not only managed to book us into our hotel (which was non-refundable) in the wrong month, he also managed to mess up our flights causing a lot of upset to my pensioner mother! (He was left to his own devices on this day, not once was his work checked before authorisation of our holiday.) Eventually, the dates and flights were amended by the deputy manager, however at this point I was left very insecure about our family holiday. Another member of staff then took over our account, and I cannot commend this staff member enough! He went above and beyond to ensure our family received the holiday we had asked for! It turned out that the trainee had booked our apartment over two different tickets! The second staff member called the hotel to ensure they understood we were there for 7 days rather than the 5 that had originally be put down! The holiday turned out to be fantastic, thanks to the work of the latter agent! I cannot thank him enough!

“Don't cancel your holiday ”

I have always booked with Barrhead Travel and had many a great holidays but had to cancel my last holiday due to unforeseen financial circumstances did everything according to their policies but getting the money back off them is a nightmare. Not once did they contact me I made 6 phone calls to them and just got different prople each time. each one said they get back to me I'm still waiting. Has anyone else had this problem with them and did they eventually get there money back?.

Booked a wee trip to Barcelona for me and my disabled son through Barrhead travel,he has always wanted to go to the nou camp,Barcelona's football ground,So I also bought my tickets for the tour of the ground from Barrhead travel as I thought it would be better than buying them at the ground,Wrong,what i received was an e-ticket which I have to bring to a shop in Barcelona to exchange for tour tickets, So I have to now go to a city I have never been in and to find a shop to get my tickets,So watch out for what you buy, It would have been WAY easier and cheaper to have bought them myself from the ground instead of having to trail my son around a strange city and waste half a day to find the ticket shop....They never advised me about this when I booked....

“Great cruise, poor transfer arrangements”

The Norwegian Epic was first-class. Staff and services were of the best with hot water, good food and entertainment. The transferring of passengers to and from the airport were the responsibility of one young girl who was expected to find her clients and then communicate to them all what to do or where to go. The disabled assistance at the airport was chaotic (something they admit to) and just as bad on the return. Waiting for over an hour from 7 a.m. in 84% humidity was followed by a protracted boarding of a bus which made the airport in time only because the incoming flight was delayed.

“booking advice ”

we booked our holiday with specified requirements . we were told we would have air conditioning but this was not the case . our hotel was Christian Sur on booking then was changed to Tenerife Sur by Barrhead travel . this did not worry me as i expected the same conditions and our travel documents state Christian/Tenerife Sur. i have to leave this issue with Barrhead travel to see if the hotel is misleading the air-conditioning or it was not picked up by Barrhead travel at time of hotel change. i found the staff at Braehead Barrhead travel friendly, helpful and this issue sullies what i thought to be a good service.

“Mixed review”

Hotel good, but food and drink very expensive and in a very poor area of Rome - not safe to walk at nights! Mistake with the transfer to the port - driver arrived more than one hour late. Cruise good but lacking the polish of previous Royal Caribbean cruises. Otherwise holiday fine.

“Did get what we really wanted ”

We asked for a hotel on the strip in Ibiza. The travel agent didn't know anything about the place so had to just go on a whim and guess. She told us that the hotel was 5mins from the strip and never mentioned anything about trip advisor, if we had looked on there we would have seen all the talk about theft in the hotel, we were 25 mins away from the strip.

“Disppointed missing information”

Overall positive experience. However on arriving at our destination in the early hours of the morning to find we were not included in the Thomas Cook transfers. We had booked a Thomas Cook Holiday through Barrhead Travel we were told transfers were included but Thomas Cook rep said they were not. Almost an hour later we found out that we were booked with the private shuttle service. They were looking for a ref number which we were not given by Barrhead Travel, however as they had our name the took us to the resort and all was well. We had confirn the return journey and again they required a reference number which was not given to us. I asked who we had booked with and managed to locate the information he needed. Barrhead Travel did not gives us the appropriate documentation for our transfers, did not explain that it was with a separate company therefore at the start and end of our holiday was very stressful!

“Drop in Customer Service”

Booked the holiday with no issues at all as we knew exactly where we wanted to go and when. The staff member who dealt with us was friendly and very helpful. I attended the shop to ask a further question regarding our holiday and the refund of the flight tax for my daughter (had been publiced in the papers), evidently the person I spoke to that day did not have any interest in this topic and I was fobbed off with a "I'll look and let you know". Well I'm still waiting. I did not receive a call from the shop to say my tickets were ready to be picked up - I had to call and check. When I went in to pick them up it was a young girl that was handing out the tickets and to say she didn't have a clue would have been an understatement. One of the tickets was spelt incorrectly and firstly she told me it would be fine but only after futher questionning did she go and get another member of staff. The other member quickly told me that they would get it rectifited and have the tickets ready the day before I travelled. It was very clear to see that she didn't have the time to deal with this or the young girl as she had customers at her desk. This is the 2nd holiday I have booked through yourselves this year and if it wasn't down to a couple of members of the team I wouldn't have booked my 3rd. Will wait and see what the service is like for that one before I commit to booking anymore!

“Check your itinerary!”

We had a number of issues with our travel arranger: She asked us to return to the store to meet her a day after the initial booking. When we arrived at the agreed time she wasn't in. She asked us for our passport details 'for the Turkish Visa', we discovered later what she actually meant was the API info - we arranged the visa ourselves. Our travel itinerary stated 'hand baggage only', when we had 22kg allowance on the flight. A different travel agent in the store had to amend the baggage statement and also the taxi voucher which had the incorrect resort details. We were not advised to check in on-line, maybe due to the last minute booking, and were subsequently charged £35 at the check-in desk!! Don't suppose that Barrhead Travel would like to reimburse that? Despite all of the foregoing, we had a fabulous holiday!

“travel agent v internet.”

I booked with Barrhead travel for first time after some years of booking myself. I have mixed feelings re doing this again. What I don't like is lack of truth from agent. I was told we must book that day as special price offered was for that day only. What a load of rubbish. I checked online after booking and could have booked same airline, hotel transfers myself for a fraction cheaper price. I was also told only 2 seats left but was able to put in for booking 6 seats at home and could proceed on that basis. What I am looking for from a travel agent is their experience of the country, the resort, the hotels but truth about the deals or lack of deals they are offering.

“Great service but could be better informed.”

I found it a pleasure to book my trip face to face with a tour operator, as I usually book my holidays on line. All was good and friendly but I was a bit surprised that the staff could not answer some questions about the ship that I would have thought were standard queries.
