“Be Warned”

★★☆☆☆

written by cfSerrano261 on 29/09/2016

Firstly...The majority of these 5 star reviews seem suspiciously similar, just putting that out there. After sales is a joke. Don't try and ring because literally no one will answer the phone in the technical department. I ordered a £2300 PC and the motherboard went bang. They picked it up very quickly and then...nothing. No updates, no confirmation they'd received it. The only way to check is by logging into the customer area and seeing if anythign has been inputted in there. I finally contacted them after quoting 7 days for a repair and it was close to 14. Once again, had to go through the web chat as no one was answering the phones, I'm told a few more days. My computer has now been is the 'Despatch Queue for two days, seemingly no closer to actually being despatched.

“Replacement PC.”

written by Chase181 on 31/01/2016

Nice configuration tool. I configured my new P.C Paid my money and waited 9 days. Nope did not arrive. E mailed them and got some lame excuses about testing and what not, just a stalling technique. Emailed again ,no reply. Watched as my computer went to burnin lol this is mumbojumbo for stalling. I have built my own computers from scratch in less than a day many times. Fired them up and away we go. Anyway my computer arrived on the 14th day. Fired it up and lo and behold Windows 10 was on it,I did not ask for this as i wanted to use Windows 7 on a clean harddrive. Formatted and installed Win 7,hmmm, no internet connection, check the Lan port, nope not working.Bearing in mind this PC has sat there for 2 days burning in. I spent hours trying to get this Lan port working. Not a bloody hope. My conclusion is that it is broken and does not work. I installed a NIC card I had and away we go. Lan port still not working. I emailed them,no reply. I rang them waited 15 mins, nada. Emailed with my telephone number, still nothing. Very poor service and never again.

“Customer Service could not care less”

★★☆☆☆

written by titaniumwulf on 23/12/2015

I bought a PC in May 2011, spending over 2000 pounds on a decent spec gaming rig. At first things went well, they tested the machine and found that the power supply was insufficient, and recommended a replacement. Phoning to get a delivery date, the person on the other end had a bad attitude, almost saying that Computer Planet were doing me a favor by taking my business. Ok got the computer, all worked well for a couple of years. Then the PCIE SSD failed. Had a lengthy battle with CP to get a replacement, just sent one in a box. And now the GPU has failed. Asked for advice, was told ´get a new one´ No attempt at all to provide help or further diagnostics with what was a very very expensive GPU. Fine, I will do so but that is the end of my dealings with Computer Planet, just at the time when I am going to buy a new PC for my wife. Way to lose a sale.

“Poor After Sales Service”

★★☆☆☆

written by on 20/02/2013

I received my computer on 14 Nov. During the build phase I was notified that the Motherboard failed durng testing. It failed almost immediately after I received it and had to be returned. It was received at Computer planet in early December. I was promised (by e mail) that it would be returned for Christmas. It is 27 December and I am still waiting for it. It seems computerplanet saves money by using cheap components and then provides a very poor standard of after sales service. You get what you pay for and I think in future I will use someone like Dell.

“Find Another Company”

Maybe I've been unlucky, but at the moment I would not recommend this company to anyone. My PC turned up damaged and it had clearly been dropped although there was no evidence of this on the cardboard packaging ?. I needed this PC urgently for work purposes and was furious when I opened it up to find out it was damaged. So I called Computer Planet immediately to tell them about the damaged PC. They opened a ticket for return/repair. I tested the PC to see if it worked and after reinserting the sound card it all seemed to be ok. I was happy to keep the PC as I needed it urgently so as long as I could come to an arrangement with CP. There was no arrangement, I was given 2 options, 1. Return & Repair with an aim of a 5 day turnaround, or 2. No warranty and a £20 refund. £20 refund and NO warranty on a £860 PC, what were they thinking ?. So I'm left with no choice but to return and repair. Which in turn means you have to wait in all day for UPS to collect and then again to return. This is most inconvenient and the least I would have expected is a designated collect and return time. As I write it's been back with them now for 2.5 days and I've not even received a status update. I contact them via the "ticket system" and all I get back is "the system will update as it moves through the stages". I have asked them to look in to it, but it now appears they won't even reply to me ?. My conclusion is, nobody want's to take responsibility of this, they just say sorry blah blah blah, and you can do nothing but follow the system and wait. “Nothing but hassle.”

written by on 28/10/2011

I purchased a PC from Computer Planet in August and when it arrived it was faulty (I can't see why their testing never picked up any fault) It was then sent back and 'repaired' and then delievered to me about 3 weeks later. When I recieved it the PC still wasn't fully functional, It was a massive incovenience for me and it took a while for them to give me a refund as they kept saying "We cannot offer a refund" it's been 2 months since I ordered it and still haven't got a PC, I need to look else where. - It may have just been my bad luck, but I know for a fact their testing methods need improving, my motherboard was faulty and I don't know how they didn't pick up on this error, I would not recommend doing business with them, find another more competent company.

Computerplanet's Comment

Customers PC was delivered. They reported a technical fault 3 weeks later. The PC was collected from the customer and the Asus motherboard replaced. The PC was returned back to the customer. The customer reported the USB ports, eSATA and Card Reader were not working. We asked the customer to check inside to see if the cables had come unseated when the customer was removing the internal packing (internal packing to protect the heatsink during transit) the customer said they were fully connected. We collected the PC from the customer. We opened the case to find the leads had been pulled out. We pushed them back in and fully tested the PC for 48 hours. We then sent the PC to be dispatched to the customer. Customer contacted us to request a refund.

A full refund was issued the same day.

If you don't mind waiting and arguing with people who have no power to help you(those who do are unreachable) go-ahead and order from these guys. But seriously, think it twice. I can't understand they are still in business.

“The graphics card was faulty when it arrived, it had...”

written by joe1joe1joe2 on 11/02/2009

The graphics card was faulty when it arrived, it had red lines across the screen. Shouldn't their extensive testing have picked this up? But I have not even said anything to them because I believe they will probably blame the courier

So I have sent just the graphics card back to them, UPS show it as being delivered for over a week now, and I haven't received acknowledgement of this from computer planet yet. I emailed them and they tell me it will be processed today and guess what, it appears not to have been processed as yet.

The whole way through production of the computer they told me it would be ready in this amount of time. It seemed as though they just kept delaying it, they told me that parts were not in stock, even though the computer had supposedly been scanned as all parts fitted.

“Ordered my PC 14 days ago, and it's still in a queue...”

★★☆☆☆

written by Kano on 10/04/2008

Ordered my PC 14 days ago, and it's still in a queue waiting to be tested. I emailed after sales support asking for a realistic delivery date (as their claim of building your PC in 7 working days obviously wasn't going to happen in my experience) and they replied saying they'd look into it, but as far as I am aware of I didnt get a reply after that.
At first I was excited about finding a PC building website that was cheap and had a good range of components, but now I'm starting to wish I'd used someone else, or just ordered the components individually and paid a PC workshop to put them together.
On the whole the service seems okay IF you don't mind waiting a long time to receive your PC. But if you want something fast, I'd have to say move on and keep looking.

Kano's Response to Kano's Review

my computer did eventually arrive after 17 days, and in the end (considering the price) i think it was worth the wait.<br/>yes the service takes longer than they advertise, and the support is email only, but this is by far the cheapest custom PC supplier i could find online, and the final product looks and works perfectly, so i think all considered it's a decent service that i would recommend. You just need a little patients. which admittadly is hard to find when you're excited about getting a shiney new toy.
