We sold our detached house in 2008 using Houseladder during very difficult times for the UK property market. We sold at a good price considering the downturn had already started. We also used their recommended fixed fee solicitor's firm, who were excellent, and saved us a fortune when the sale hit problems regarding a boundary and completely unnecessary requests from our purchasers local solicitor regarding planning consents, previously included in our conveyance when we purchased the same house 12 years before !
We had lots of very serious viewers, whom we were able to 'vet' unlike the frequent 'weekend' house viewers from the agents, most of whom were totally unsuitable and had no serious interest whatever in buying a property of our type, or possibly buying a house at all.
Perhaps the most satisfying thing for us was telling our two utterly useless Estate Agents who had been 'marketing' the property for almost two years that we had sold the property ourselves, and therefore they were not going to get a penny from us.
If you are able to take some good digital photos, and pitch the price of your house at a sensible level, I would heartily recommend Houseladder as a site to sell your own house. You really have nothing to lose.
I would suggest that the Houseladder for sale board is a must.
