NavyFIELD had been a really nice naval simulation that served a sector of the market that was very specific. Until recent, it had been a decent game even though the graphics and coding were severely outdated. Recently, SDEnternet released a patch that forced the installation of HackSHIELD, which in most cases is okay for a game that needs that sort of security. Unfortunately such a program for such an under-supported game is not warranted nor worth it. The risks outweigh the rewards in downloading HackSHIELD to play such a game. 5 Years of playing (Since beta) Nevermore.

Very addictive, unique game play. Not possible to just start and easily figure out what to do as you go on. You must read / view the manual and instructional videos before playing. Well recommend navyfield.com.

lv30+ is free to play, but the exp and money gain is reduced by 60%
After lv 65 without subscription, don't play, its not worth your time

Good game, worth the try, you'll either love it or hate it

“Navy Field is an arcade ship-to-ship multi player...”

★★★★☆

written by Katarrn on 05/10/2007

Navy Field is an arcade ship-to-ship multi player combat game (more arcade than sim) with semi-fictional WW2 ships.
The ships can be outfitted and crews be developed (and improved by buying premium services). It's no MMORPG, but in fact the underlying basics are quite similar to Guild Wars.
The player begins as member of a "neutral" lfleet with frigates and destroyers until level 12, when he can turn his sailors into a nationality (American, British, Japanese, German) and follow the nations ship trees until the largest aircraft carriers and battleships. So-called fleets (clans) have players with mixed nationalities' ships. Every player can have crews of different nationalities.
The nationalities have different strengths.
- USN (American) is well-balanced
- IJN (Japanese) is strong in torpedoes, has carrier diversity/Hybrid carriers
- RN (UK) has best armour and highest damage per shell
- KM (German) has best fighters, longest battleship gun ranges, best gunners (accuracy and reload), best torpedo fuses and engineers

The game has different styles of gameplay
- frigate combat (quick, agile, but at best a small torpedo armament, clearing mines in Harbor assault missions)
- torpedo emphasis
- destroyer gun emphasis
- light cruiser (kills destroyers with quick-firing guns)
- heavy cruiser (kills cruisers over long distances)
- batleship/battlecruiser (very long range guns, slow reload)
- aircraft carrier (fighters, torpedo bombers vs. small ships, dive bombers vs. large ships
- anti-air gunship
(often two modes are mixed, as destroyers have guns and torpedoes and so on).
Being good in one doesn't mean you're good in another.

Navy Field is a really fun game for those who love games like battlefield. You can play the demo to level 30 without taking out your wallet. It's pretty addictive though, say goodbye to watching tv when you get home from school or work. HAHA Enjoy!
