I bought the Renault Laguna 1.6 litre petrol estate car in 1999, a ten month old ex fleet car with a low mileage and lower price. It seemed like a great buy and I have to admit it never actually let me down. It held its own on the Autobahn in Germany (not for the faint of heart) and did about 40mpg which was great for a car of its size. However, it was not a cheap car to own.
I do not expect cars to need more than servicing and certain parts replaced, and I am glad to pay for that. The price of rhe little bits of bent metal that cars are made with always seems exorbitant and I was pretty aggrieved when the exhaust manifold started blowing. The same parts for my next car might have been as dear but it didn't need them! That's the difference.
