i have had trouble with a knock on the offside rear suspension but arley motors in leamington spa are really great and tried three times to sort it , third time lucky it has gone now, i use it as a taxi and i service it myself every 6k miles,,parts are not cheap but i believe in using genuine ,it is not good on tyre wear and in the snow i had to put some cheaper winter tyres on to get grip, the total milage now is 35600 and i,m pleased with it so far , it is NOT as good as my two previous xantias but these were to my mind the best car ever made by citroen, even so the look of pleasure on my customers faces still give me kick as do their positive comments on comfort.if buying one drive over road humps and ghost island lines rapidly to test suspension , remember that oil is very expensive and ask for service book to check intervals, i have a diesel , 2LTR steel suspension model and it is so far as good as can be expected, overall it is good enough for me , the future will tell if itb is tough as a citroen should be , if not THEY WILL BE CONTACTED AND INFORMED LOL

I have found my Citroen C5 to be an excellent example of poor engineering, it is currently sitting outside my house with a suspension fluid leak, which you may think is bad, let me explain why this is not so. This is the first suspension problem I've had, it is a 52 plate Jan 2003 C5 lx 2.0 HDi 110, it was purchased by myself on Jan 2006 with 35k on the clock, it now has 213k on the clock and yet still I can get 65MPG on a long run, and still overtakes with ease, it never requires oil top ups between servicing and the only annoying ongoing problem is that it eats headlight bulbs, this in my mind makes this a GREAT car.

Because of the technology, the Citroen C5 2.2HDi Exclusive Saloon can be costly servicing, eg. a comment came up which stated diesel additive minimum level. I checked my faithful manual and was instructed to contact my dealer. I thought it was a simple case of adding some type of lubricant, how wrong was I? Total cost was £410! It turned out I had to replace several items to leave the car right. This did not impress me! It's a good car but like all modern motors, cannot be worked on by your normal mechanic so you are caught by the short and curlies.

If you can get a good high spec itroen C5, go for it! These cars are typical Citroen. Loads of quirks but they are so gorgeous to drive, you can forgive the French engineering.
