“Worst customer service”

★☆☆☆☆

written by MorganHubbard on 27/03/2023

Quite possibly the worst customer service I've come across, sent the same message so many times, even put the key words they were asking for in brackets, the words were literally in the first email I sent, this company is a complete joke, can't even read, ridiculous.

“Helped me improve my credit score”

★★★★☆

written by HectorW on 17/01/2023

I was struggling with my credit score and got pre-approved for a Vanquis card. Got 0% interest for the first 12 months and my credit score seemed to improve, since then they keep offering me the chance to increase my credit and windows for 0% balance transfers, but I think they do charge a monthly fee of around £9. App works well.

“Clean Credit repair”

★★★☆☆

written by Annebanner on 10/09/2022

If an individual or company is unable to pay debts, they may be forced to file for bankruptcy to receive legal protection. Filing for bankruptcy is an extreme event, and it is the most damaging event to an entity’s credit score. If a borrower files for bankruptcy, the information will be recorded in the credit report, and it stays there for seven years. Due to the complexity of bankruptcy cases, most lenders shy away from lending to borrowers with a history of bankruptcies and court cases relating to their financial situation. This could lead to a bad credit report and our credit specialists are here to make the corrections. Removing inquiries may make sense if you have previously been a victim of identity theft. Disputing inquiries is also advisable if a company has checked your report without permission, as this implies that the inquiry might lead to future identity theft. i once hired rocketskycredit via telgram to help with my total credit repair some months ago. It's totally worth it.

“Bank refuses to help negotiating balance”

★★☆☆☆

written by Anvapietra on 12/08/2022

I got my Vanquis car almost 6 years ago, never missed a payment and never exceed my limit. For several times, I would even pay all my balance at once. I am now facing some financial problems and I called the bank to get help to negotiate my balance or at least freeze my interests until I get back to my feet. To my surprise, the bank plainly refused to help me with any plans due to the fact that I have "exceed income", which is the only income I have left for any food/medical expenses or for any emergencies. I am extremely disappointed that, the moment I need the most, I was simply left with no solution whatsoever to help me with my debts and to help me to clear my balance. I do not recommend.

“Damaged my credit score ”

★☆☆☆☆

written by BeauHensley on 14/06/2021

Could never sign into this card, so I just cut up my card & never used. They sent me a letter saying they had closed my account. Now I get a letter saying they’ve charged me £40 on a repayment option plan & sent it to a debt agency but it was a mistake & they’ve refunded me. I had this company for less than a couple of months & they’ve ruined my credit limit & I’ve got a black mark against my name. Terrible company!!

“Give this company a wide berth”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Bilbo_Baggins on 08/06/2021

Give this company as wide a berth as possible, their customer service is dire and they are very inflexible in terms of increasing the paltry credit limit that comes with the card. Anyone thinking of applying for a credit card from Vanquis will have to be desperate.

“Avoid avoid avoid ”

★★☆☆☆

written by umAdkins391 on 06/12/2017

I’ve had my Vanquis gold card for a few years and eventually got a credit limit of £4000. Due to my husband being made redundant , we had to use our credits cards heavily for a while . When I signed up I was told that Interest rates would drop and they review accounts every few months , however my interest rates were never lowered and when I rang to question why , staff were unable to answer . I have always paid on time and never missed any payments . Interest rates are extremely high . I was paying over £150 a month sometimes just in interest alone , so if you pay just the minimum payment each month your be in debt for a very long time. I’m pleased to say I’ve now paid off my card and closed my account ! I would not recommend Vanquis at all there are plenty of others cards such as capital one they offer credit builder cards and better interest rates .

“hassles members of the public”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 07/10/2017

To be fair to this bank I don't have an account with them and have previously had no dealings with them. However, that doesn't excuse them from calling random members of the public to get in touch with them about debt repayments. They failed to identify me despite trying to send me multiple messages, and have failed to recognise any of their mistakes, or apologise. I wouldn't accept this behaviour from an individual, it definitely isn't acceptable of a company.

“Helped me when nobody else would”

★★★★☆

written by Millwall12 on 12/08/2017

I had poor credit for a long period after some financial stupidity in my youth. Was unable to get credit until I came across Vanquis. Personally I found them very helpful. Only downside is the high interest rate so pay full balance off if you can.Im now in the fortunate position of being eligible for mainstream cards again so although Vanquis no longer needed Im keeping it open as it helps my overall age of accounts on my credit file.

“HOW NOT TO CONDUCT BUSINESS!”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 12/05/2017

Since March this year, I have been inundated with spam/junk emails from this pathetic excuse of a time wasting company! I had never heard of vanquis bank/loans before I received the first of what turned out to be twenty-two more persistent and harassing emails from the company! I have never once applied for a loan anywhere and even if I wanted to, I most certainly wouldn't even consider using Vanquis, because their constant behaviour has been disgraceful! After feeling fed-up with the constant unwanted stream of their emails constantly cluttering my emails, I first of all sent a polite email to them asking me not to contact me again, because I am not interested in their services - something I wasn't interested at all in the first place! Earlier today, while doing some shopping in town, I was confronted with two reps from Vanquis Loans, I explained to them my experience with them and showed them my email address asking me to not contact me anymore, which their response was "they couldn't delete my email from their records, but would call the company to process this." This was only for me to see on my emails yet another bloody email from Vanquis, which I replied back to them saying that if they didn't remove my contact details from their list and kept on contacting them, that I would be reporting them, complete with the incriminating evidence, to the Financial Ombudsman! I hope with this latest act they have now finally got the message! So to sum up, Vanquis Banks/Loans are an absolute disgrace, they just harass people to the point of falling ill and companies like these need shutting down immediately and if anybody else suffers such disgusting treatment, I advise them to take similar action!

“Ok but nothing more .. ”

★★★☆☆

written by Woodyr448 on 06/03/2017

Took a long time to arrive, almost the full time allowed (11 days). Transactions are not immediately available to view and payments take days to come off your account. There are other credit building cards out there with better apps and a better way of administering your account. Will keep in the background as a "good credit record account" but wouldn't be my regular card.

“High interest rates”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Granthamel153 on 12/01/2017

I have a Vanquis card and have now got a debt management plan with them. I have to pay £33 a month and they have just added £32.05 on again in interest. Terrible customer services. They do not want to help.

“Not bad ”

This card was ok to start with, now I have cut the card up and cleared the balance due to high APR rate. They consider myself as gold member but I would strongly recommend to stay away.

“1 Star too high”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Korbin48 on 01/08/2016

The interest rates on this credit card are absolutely extortionate. Not only that but they are also other interest and withdrawal charges that you end up paying that Vanquis don't make very clear once that you sign up with them. Avoid at all costs.

“Bad credit. Worse customer service”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 28/07/2016

So I've had a card for 2 yearse now. 6 weeks ago they put a note on my account that I was bankrupt (was there mistake). 6 weeks on and over 10 phone calls I have made to them (over £20 on charges as I used my mobile) and the matter is still not sorted. I have been charged internet on an account in which I have been unable to use my card. I called dthmw on Monday and was told I would get a call back the next day (now Thursday and yet still no call). I have then called them again to be advised someone will call me back today but I won't hold my breath. The main issue is that as soon as my next payment is due and I don't pa( I have advised I will not be making a payment u til someone has called me back) I will be inundated will calls and and text from them. But when they make a mistake nobody seems to know who is taking responsibility for it. The manner and attitude of the staff (except 1 girl) is absolutely appalling and I doubt even they even look into the issue once you are off the phone

“Poor, very poor ”

★★☆☆☆

written by Naimah392 on 21/07/2016

Took out this card well over a year ago (possibly nearly 2 years now). I've never missed a payment, never went over my credit limit and regularly pay it off in full. Yet they've never offered me a credit limit increase. I've tried speaking to customer services about it, yet they rad from scripts and are unhelpful, rude and lack manners. Their interest rate is through the roof! Avoid!!!

“Bad credit ok”

★★★☆☆

written by Harper190 on 16/06/2016

If you have a bad credit rating then Vanquis could be for you. Unfortunately Vanquis tend to lead you astray when saying it will improve your credit rating!. Been wth Vanquis for 4 years, queried a few times about reduction in 39.99% rate but still on that rate. First time I queried was advised that I pay card to quickly. Second time I had amassed payment? Really?. Third time I need to borrow bigger sums of money and today was told they, Vanquis, just change your rate when their ready so no time scale. So it's goodbye Vanquis.

Does this card effect your credit rating? Since I have had it I have realised it has gone down. I got pulled over by the sales person they told me that it wouldn't make my credit rating any lower but I have realised a significant drop and I have paid my bill as soon as it has gone through. Very confused can anyone help? Don't know what I'm doing wrong and whether or not it is a good idea to just get rid of this?

Most card companies, along with the banks, are reluctant to lend/increase limits because of the current financial situation. Although things seem to be getting better, it may be a long while before they start to lend like they used to. Then again, that's what got us in to the mess in the first place. I, personally, would avoid building up a large balance with Vanquis. It will take you a lot of time (and money) to clear it. I was paying £150 per month on a £3000 balance and was clearing pennies every month. Once you start to rebuild your credit score, try a more reputable lender without the eye watering interest rates. Good luck!
