Not Baking Bread

breadmaker given to me, still in box after for 5yrs. Put ingredients in and mixed but did not heat up to bake. I cannot say yes or no on the product as I have yet to use it, but so far its not looking good.

Morphy Richards 48280 Absolute Rubish Do Not Buy

I bought this Morphy Richards 48280 Bread Maker 2 Years Ago and It Lasted 3 Years and the gear system started making a funny noise then the paddle would not turn round and eventually it would not turn at all and Morphy Richardssaid no parts available so i had to scrap it so i will not buy morphy richards as you cant buy spare parts but it did produce good bread while it lasted

Too late to help Supersteve2444, but for anyone else ...

Morphy Richards don't sell parts, and security screws are used to deter disassembly, but parts are available elsewhere. The 4828x series has the same parts as the Cookworks XBM1038 and Sunbeam, Donlim and other brands. Belts, pulleys, drive fork and base fork seat can be obtained at Aliexpress. Wear in the base fork seat, which can result in the paddle not rotating, can be repaired by replacing the bronze bush for just a couple of pounds.

Easy To Use, But Does Not Last. The

Easy to use, but does not last.

The motor on my first model burnt out after 16 months, within the two year guarantee period. Morphy Richards replaced it with a brand new model, no quibbles. But the replacement has now suffered the same problem after 16 months and I am now out of the original guarantee. A shame, because the bread has been excellent and it is easy to use.

These Breadmakers Are Cheap And Effective. Once Yo

These breadmakers are cheap and effective. Once you've worked out how to get the best bread from them they are very easy to use. the basic weakness is that the electronics get hot, so they don't last all that long - about two years on average. I would be prepared to pay more for a machine which lasted longer.

Bought The Machine (fast Bake Breadmaker) 9 Months

Bought the machine (Fast Bake Breadmaker) 9 months ago. had a number of 'failures' at making wholemeal bread but put it down to lack of pratice.

Last week the thing would not heat so two full loads of ingredients wasted. Morphy Richards don't want to know. Admit that sometimes components fail to work but refuse to compensate or replace, Have offered me a 10% discount off a new machine.

I told them that they were morally obliged to replace or repair but they simply brushed off such a suggestion.

Customer service at its worst!

As a pensioner, I cannot afford to subsidise large, money-grabbing companies. Shame on them.

DO NOT BUY THIS MACHINE

I've Used This Morphy Richard Breadmaker Model 242

I've used this Morphy Richard Breadmaker model 24280 breadmaker for over 7 years. I can't possibly count how many loaves and pizza bases it's made. It's been used at least twice a week and sometimes every day some weeks, mostly overnight on the timer. The clip that holds the paddle has only just gone last week. Yes, as it got older there was a hole in the bottom of the loaf and we couldn't leave it on the timer because it got as bit leaky, yes, some of the recipies needed a bit of tweeking, when we had diabetic/salt intolerant friends round we used hardly no salt and honey instead and we got great bread. It's a great machine and well worth the money, 7 years of great bread! Who can argue!

This Breadmaker Is Useless. The Paddle Spindle Has

This breadmaker is useless. The paddle spindle has broken already after a year, but before that, the results were hit and miss, despite following the instructions carefully. Ingredients for some of the breads aren't too healthy either. Lots of sugar, milk powder and sunflower oil!

Over-all each loaf has cost us about £4 to make bearing in mind the number of loaves we made until the spindle broke. I think we'll buy a panasonic next time.

We've Had Our Morphy-richards Fastbake Breadmaker

We've had our Morphy-Richards FastBake breadmaker for three years. After about a month the spindle refused to turn. Morphy-Richards told us it was the way we'd washed it! Nonsense! However, they sent a new one under guarantee. Like many other people we didn't like the large hole in the bottom of the bread, so now we just use it to make the dough, let it rise in the machine, then tip it out and put in a proper bread tin. After 45 minutes in the airing cupboard it's ready to go in the proper oven. First class results every time! don't like M-R's recipe though, we leave out sunflower oil, using butter instead. The same for the milk powder. Why use that when real milk's cheaper! Now, like many other people, the paddle spindel is acting up again. But why do we have to buy a new bucket when all you want is a couple of bushes? Puzzled, in Norfolk!

I found this review very helpful because whilst I havent yet had any problems with my paddle, I have found that making a loaf on Fast Bake, the ingredients are not mixed properly and when the loaf is baked in the machines tin, the bottom of the loaf has a high density of ingredients whilst the top of the loaf is light and fluffy. By putting all the ingredients in the machines tin and using olive oil instead of vegetable oil then using the "Dough" setting for mixing, then letting the dough rise in the machine before leaving it in a warm place to rise, I get a much superior type of loaf which lasts for a full week or more before going dry. For a brown loaf I use 300gms of Wholemeal flour and 300gms of Strong White Bread Flour with 600Ml of water
