Kimm742's review of Daelim Roadwin R Sport 125

★★★★★

“Daelim is a Korean company, apparently something to do...”

Daelim is a Korean company, apparently something to do with Kia, and the Roadwin R is a modern sports 125 bristling with desirable features. It has a full sports fairing with twin headlamps and digital/LCD displays including clock, temperature and fuel guages, and speedo and trip meters which can be switched beween MPH and KPH. The engine is a liquid-cooled fuel-injected four-stroke single, with electric start. Add in alloy wheels and disc brakes front and rear, and a box-section frame and swing-arm.

It's early days yet, but build quality and fit and finish of parts seems quite high. OK it's a 12bhp learner bike, but it's quite a looker. Fuel consumption is something ridiculous (100+ mpg) so 17 year old son can maintain his street cred without going bankrupt.

I've ridden it myself a couple of times, and so far I can't fault it. And as an added bonus, a local dealer had a deal going which put the bike on the road for under £2,000, a healthy saving over the normal price of around £3,000.

Kimm742's Response to Kimm742's Review

Well, it had to happen- 2 years later he has passed his test and got a bigger bike. When he parted with the Daelim it was in showroom condition, paintwork deep and lustrous and no corrosion anywhere, and mechanically the same as the day he first got it. He didn't do bad on the part exchange price, either. Not a single problem in those 2 years apart from a new speedo cable, easily obtained and half the price of a cable for a Jap bike. No matter what he progresses onto in the future, I will always have very fond memories of the Daelim. Highly recommended.
