Guest's review of AA Breakdown Cover

“wow is all i can say, when you actually break down you...”

wow is all i can say, when you actually break down you call into ask them that you want to take out breakdown cover, they ask you if your broken down, they put you on hold and come back with a quote for £205!! they completely ignored the fact i was approx 1 mile about a 5 minute stretch from my house, they didnt have to fix it just a recovery service simple?

and apparantly they dont cover cars over 10 years old? wtf??! do their mechanics even know what an old cars engine looks like? to be entirely honest you get the feeling that maybe some aa repairers are just experienced tyre fitters and jump start specialists! maybe a few mechanics know their stuff !

The way the AA and other breakdown services work is that you join up BEFORE you break down - it is a type of insurance.
In your case you were foolish enough to call after you broke down and were told the standard cost of the tow.
The alternative was to call a local garage for a tow. If you were told by the AA that they don't cover cars over 10 years old you were clearly asking for basic roadside cover which is the only service they offer which has this restriction.
If everyone thought the same way as you there wouldn't be an AA at all, they would all have gone bust years ago.
AA are not in any way at fault in this instance.

Yes, stop whining. Get the AA cover before you breakdown, not try to get a cheap tow afterwards. Next time call a mate and have him push you and see how much he will charge you the rest of your life reminding you of it :)
