Matt.'s review of Pentax MZ-3 Date

Good Points
Compatibility with all older Pentax bayonet mount lenses (which are v cheap second-hand)
Highly accurate metering, deals with difficult lighting well and has spot metering - produces well-exposed photos.
Light and compact.

Bad Points
Slightly low on features compared to Canon and Nikon products in same price bracket
No provision for power winder, so stuck with 2 fps wind.
No PC socket - need flash hotshoe adapter.
Difficult to use exposure lock if you view with left eye (it is located close to the right hand side of the viewfinder).

General Comments
The Pentax MZ-3 Date is a very good 35mm SLR camera- compact, easy to use and has excellent metering and good autofocus. Perhaps a little basic compared to similarly priced cameras, but all important features are catered for. Produces consistently good results, perhaps money saved on features was spent on high-quality components?

Would recommend, although MZ-5N is cheap now it's being discontinued - MZ-3 appears to be rebadged MZ-5N with slightly improved metering and faster max shutter speed (1/4000 compared to 1/2000).
