JoannaNaylor's review of Royal Mail International Signed

“Its okay until something goes astray and then you...”

★★☆☆☆

written by JoannaNaylor on 20/12/2010

Its okay until something goes astray and then you discover that you are not getting the service you paid for! We send all of our International orders by this service and 9/10 they get there. However we recently discovered that you are not actually getting proof of signature! An item went astray and Royal mail advised that they could only track the parcel up to the point of handing it over to the other country! After that they can only rely on the other country getting a signature! So they are basically offering a service that they are not supplying! Perhaps they should change the name of the service to 'arrived at the International postal service' because that is all they actually do! If something goes astray you will be looking at at least 90 days for it to be sorted out and they will only offer you the wholesale price if you are a company that is making the claim. If you haven't taken additional insurance out you will only be covered up to about £40 and they will also insist on the original proof of postage being sent. They will then send you a letter to say you haven't sent the original proof of postage even when you have (this happened to us on 3 occasions) it was only after threatening them with Watchdog and the National newspapers we started to get anywhere! Okay when things go right, sh.t when things go wrong! And not accountable to anyone!
