I was a Capital One cardholder for 12 years. Not once in that time did I dispute a merchant charge, until this year.
I could not BELIEVE how poorly Capital One handled my dispute. They asked for my side of the story which I wrote out carefully and in detail. It was completely unaddressed and replied to with a form-letter email.
I have now written FOUR letters (the most recent sent certified mail to their headquarters in Virgina) and have yet to have any semblance of a specific response to my questions.
I went through the ENTIRE process of contacting them through phone calls, all the way up to the Escalation Department. It was a joke and a waste of time.
The reply letters I received were written so poorly as to be nearly unintelligible; I am not exaggerating.
If you would like a credit card company that listens to its customers, stands behind you in disputes, and demonstrates a desire to retain you as a customer, DO NOT CHOOSE CAPITAL ONE.
