Badly in need of refurbishment, chalets v damp,DO NOT RECOMMEND!!!

We have just spent a week at Michaelstow 27/9 to 1/10,we had read various reviews before going some good some bad but went with an open mind.Arrived 1st day 7.20pm to be told restaurant would be closing at 7.45pm, it had been open since 7pm, hhmmm not a good start. Michaelstow is in the middle of nowhere so not easy to pop out.Other problems encountered, chalet smelt very badly of damp, respitory problems? DONT GO!!! Had a pint of Carling in the bar but the beer had a funny twang to it.Wasnt until we stopped at a local pub and had a pint of Carling there that we realised the beer must have been OFF!! Needless to say we didnt venture there again!

Michaelstow seemed to pride themselves on the fact that they had just started to recycle, how GREEN! But then in the chalet there wasnt an energy saving bulb to be seen and the hot water tank had no jacket. But then the hot water is heated by electric which is fed by YOUR pound coins in a meter. No wonder the tank had no jacket, the water cools quicker and then you would have to re-heat it by feeding the gobbling meter! Thank god we had a SUN holiday that only cost us £38. The best part of Michaelstow was the resident cat and leaving, never to return!
