“I booked my ALton Towers tickets through NHS Discounts...”

I booked my ALton Towers tickets through NHS Discounts and only paid £29 for a 2 day ticket. Also 2 weeks before I went I had broken my foot and had a cast on below my knee and I couldnt put any weight on it. So I phoned Alton Towers and they assured me that they had wheelchairs there to rent on the day and I had to report to guest services.

However I managed to get one to take down with me instead of renting. When I got to guest services the staff were very helpful and explained that we needed priority access wrist bands which were coloured to show who was disabled and who were my carers (I was allowed 3 carers which I needed, one to help me, one for my bag and crutches and one for the wheelchair) they also gave me a map that showed where all the wheelchair access areas were, the staff on all of the rides were helpful and friendly and this did make a huge difference to my experience.

I was allowed on all the rides (which I did not expect because I had brought a book to read while the people I was with went on rides) but beware when going on air because some peoples casts don't fit.

I would totally recommend Alton Towers and don't cancel/be put off if you have a cast on your lower leg, you can still have an amazing time and there are rides for everyone.

However Alton towers is very hilly! so make sure your carers are fit so they can push you around :)
