Our chocolate girl "Pickle" is a lovely dog, now 8 months old. Chocolate labs demand lots of attention so be sure that you can give this before getting one. We're were knackered after a few weeks when she was 9 weeks old. V. naughty, playful nature, pestilent even. But wonderful and very funny. Be sure that you get one that has been well socialised as Pickle was be a bit shy of strangers and barked a lot presumably due to breeder not having handled her enough in the very early weeks. I reckon that a family bred dog with child contact is the way to go. Not that we'd be without our Pickle who has improve a lot in this regard although we've certainly had to put the effort in. Don't over feed them and give them plenty of exercise or just play if a young pup.

I have an 8 month old chocolate lab, she is still a real handful, she will take basic commands but is hyperactive, she still gets us up thru the night to go out. Like the book Marley I couldn't take her to training classes because they would throw her old. Have you any tips or is yours still like this? I'm tired at getting up and at my wits end. We have always had labs but this is our first chocolate lab.
