Guest's review of John Fowler, St. Ives Holiday Village

“We have just returned home from a week at what was...”

Written on: 27/08/2010

We have just returned home from a week at what was supposed to be at St Ives Holiday Park, but we only actually tolerated 24hrs their before we were moved to Tolroy, Hayle. We checked in on Saturday to St Ives Holiday park, into Woodland gold chalet number 191. When we opened the door to the chalet/shed the smell of damp hit us, it was awful. The chalet was very dingy and everything was damp including the beds. We left most of our clothes in the case because the smell in the (very small) wardrobes was disgusting, all the cooking utensils smelt of damp too. The bathroom was tiny, there was only a shower , no bath, and the water would,nt drain away so you ended up standing in a tray full of dirty water and when it did finally drain away, the tray filled back up with black dirt. By Sunday teatime we could'nt bare it any longer and went to reception and complained, we were offered another chalet which we declined, so was then told we could go to another John Fowler park at Tolroy. We went to view the acoomondation their and it was much better, and the overall feel of the park was much nicer and cleaner so we ended up moving all of our things in pouring rain to this park where we stayed for the rest of our holiday. We spoke to other holiday makers at tolroy who had come from st ives also, and staff at tolroy were very aware of the problems of st ives and used to recieving guests from their.
