Website said certain goods were "in stock" and there were more than 10 of them, and could be delivered within 14 days. Then got one email to say each item would come from the manufacturers directly, not from john lewis at all, and that the manufacturers would contact me about delivery within 2-3 weeks. Email also said money would be taken when items were dispatched.

Next day, website status says items had been "dispatched" and £1.8K taken from credit card. But no-one had telephoned or contacted us to arrange a delivery time, nor to tell us anything would be delayed. After a couple more days, I telephoned John Lewis. The sales person telephoned each manufacturer to find out what was happening, it turns out nothing is in stock anywhere and it could take several weeks to deliver.

Argued with customer services about what the definitions of "In stock" and "Dispatched" mean. Also about promises to deliver within 14 days. Also about taking money from credit card without any idea if there is stock at all.

Very unsatisfactory for a supposed reputable company. No confidence in them anymore.
