If, like I was, you are really looking forward to your first visit to The Tate, St Ives, please don't get your hopes up! I was hoping to see modern art by local artists and although there wasn't any, I arrived with an open mind. Instead, the "No Big Deal Thing" exhibition was exactly that for me, as was the rest of the gallery's collection. There was a really pretentious feel to the place and it was not "family friendly" as promoted. As in a previous review, my four year who was on her best behaviour was also shouted at by a member of staff and made to cry because while I was looking at the exhibition she tried to sit on a settee which confusingly for a four year old and for me a forty year old was part of the exhibition (no railings around) and would have been better suited to an Ikea showroom. I visited the cafe before looking around the gallery and that was very nice as is the building itself with its views, but I would recommend having a browse around the gallery shops in St Ives, rather than wasting your money at the Tate.
