The Samsung WS24V53NS is a CRT wide-screen television. Being a CRT TV means that the TV supports no HD, but does however boast rather a good picture.
The Samsung WS24V53NS has two scart sockets and a aerial connection, as well as RGB connections. It accepted a Freeview Set Top Box without any trouble and displayed the picture very well.
The Samsung WS24V53NS doesn't seem to support stereo sound, just mono but does have a feature called "pseudo stereo" which replicates a stereo effect rather quite well.
The menus on the TV work well and are simple and easy to use, the "Teletext" feature works fine as do most of the other features.
The Samsung WS24V53NS includes a setting to display a blue screen when a signal is not detected which is quite nice as its better than having a fuzzy screen when a signal is not available.
The Samsung WS24V53NS starts quickly from pressing the power button and makes quite a strange sound to inform you its on, a sort of "Tetris-y" sound.
I bought the Samsung WS24V53NS pre-owned and the remote didn't work with it (although it was a Samsung remote and made a light on the TV blink when pressed), this was a disappointment, but could be due to a wrong remote.
Overall the Samsung WS24V53NS although quite old now is still a good TV and with a set-top-box or other input performs very well and I'd recommend it.
