Guest's review of Royal Caribbean, Navigator of the Seas

“My brother(19) and I(21) booked the Royal Caribbean...”

★★☆☆☆

written by on 20/06/2010

My brother(19) and I(21) booked the Royal Caribbean Navigator of the Seas mediterranean cruise out of Civitevechia, Italy because we got an awesome deal and we had never been to Italy before. The ports of call were: Genoa, Italy; Toulon, France; Barcelona, Spain; Palma del Malorca, Spain; Cagliari, Sardinia, Italy. This was not our first cruise, but it was our first one with Royal Caribbean and we were quite disappointed in the service we received.

-the guest relations people made such a stink about us having to leave the ship the last day at 4am (the arrival time that was given on our itinerary) inorder to make our flight.

-when asked if they had any taxi phone numbers, I was told to "google it"...and internet onboard is not cheap!! Great service, huh?

-3 out of the 5 ports had shuttle buses that you had to pay for ($10-12 roundtrip per person)...some city centers were not within walking distance either since we docked in industrial areas. why should we have to pay again to get to the city?...I thought that's what the cruise fees were for!

-there was lots of variety at the buffets...disappointed in the pasta though (hard most of the time) especially since many of our stops were in Italy!

-besides barcelona, the port cities are small and overall there is not much to see at most of them...I would recommend taking a cruise with different ports of call

-we took an excursion to the drach caves at the palma del malorca port...a much cheaper way to see these cave is by city bus. The guest relations people didn't know anything about the bus schedule (for obvious reasons I guess), but I'm sure it's do-able. There is a bus stop right infront of the caves ticket building.

-most of the time we were greeted by the vacuum and housekeeping cart sitting on either side of our door. this was annoying...isn't the point of vacation to get away from the work at home?!

-one plus was the great sports deck...full size basketball court and 9 hole mini-golf course

Overall, I would not recommend this cruise route and cruise line.
