I have owned two 5th generation VFR800's I like them so much and put probably 50k combined miles with rock solid reliability. A 99 and now an 01. In the year 2010 no motorcycle pushes my buttons like the VFR. It is the best generation in my opinion. The sweet song of gear driven cams is unbeatable. Classic looks, decent handling, great riding position (no pain after all day in the saddle) and more power than I realistically need on the streets. You might need a Sargent saddle, the seat can get old. Yes there are faster bikes everyonw knows that, but this is still a serious piece of machinery. Once you get them RPM's above 6-7k things start happening very quickly and that V-4 starts showing it's racing heritage. It makes about 100HP at the crank and even as a young rider have never felt the need to get a race replica bike after owning this.
